THE NEXT LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE Hall 26 b 5 Sept. 2017 12:00 - 1:00pm VR – Real Life vs. Fantasy Clemens Conrad is the executive experience director of Vectorform, a global organisation that invents digital products and experiences for leading brands. He is responsible for the overall operational performance of the European region and leads the design department globally. Clemens Conrad, CEO Europe, Vectorform Vectorform is an invention company that creates digital products and experiences for the world’s leading brands with a focus on mobile, augmented and virtual reality (AR/ VR), Internet of Things, smart home, connected vehicle and wearable technology. Can you please give us an outline of what people can expect to learn about in your presentation at the IFA+ Summit? Attendees of the panel can expect to learn how VR and AR is being leveraged across all industries, impacting on the way we learn, train, and conduct business today and in the future. I will touch on several use cases, but will focus on a program specific to the utility industry. The program, a utility industry first, aims to revolutionise high-consequence training. How does the future look? How and when will consumers’ lives be changed or enhanced thanks to new technologies? Whether we’re inventing new products, services, processes, or tools, we are obsessive about improving the world in which we live and work. Simply put, we invent the future. While others are trying to predict the future, we are busy inventing it. What kind of people should attend your talk? My talk will provide an overview on VR in the enterprise and how it can be used to drive change in how we learn, train, and conduct our business today and in the future. Industry professionals, people interested in getting into the industry, and/or companies looking to create a new product or implement new features with emerging tech would find it valuable THE NEXT LEVEL OF SOCIETY Hall 26 b 5 Sept. 2017 3:00pm -4:00pm The E-Volution of Democracy Demos is Britain’s leading cross-party think tank. During his presentation at the IFA+ Summit, Carl Miller, Research Director, Centre for the Analysis of Social Media at Demos, focused on his attempts to track down and expose one of the most important things that shapes, guides and limits each of our lives: power. Carl Miller, Research Director, Centre for the Analysis of Social Media, Demos A new, digital form of power has chipped away at the old, familiar places where power used to sit; scaring CEOs, forcing politicians to resign, swallowing up newspapers, eclipsing experts, and pulling down companies. But as it rips down traditional centres of power, it has redistributed it in new, mysterious ways. How is it controlling us? And how can we use it? How important is social media becoming, and why? People getting married online, students studying without ever opening a book, YouTube stars strutting down the red carpet, newspapers going bust whilst Facebook grows larger than China. The gap between digital life, and just life, is fast collapsing. What are the biggest problems/ issues to be overcome at the moment, and how do you feel they may be fixed? The biggest problem is that tech is moving so quickly, it is outstripping the things that we have developed to civilise social life – law, morals, and norms. Where do you see this all going in five to ten years? It is impossible to say. Digital technology is improving at an exponential rate and nobody needs to ask permission to do something new that uses the Internet. What kind of people should come to your talk? Whether you like technology or hate it, use it or avoid it, you can’t escape it. Technology is weaving its way through all of our lives, whether we like it or not. We might not want to embrace the future, but we can all step into it and be a little more aware of what it’s doing to us 8

THE NEXT LEVEL OF SOCIETY Hall 26 b 5 Sept. 2017 4:30pm-5:30pm Panel to Discuss Data Sharing for Patients Shari Langemak Strategy & New Business Development, Philips, Germany Shari Langemak is a physician, speaker, and a digital health strategist. Her talks and lectures are mainly concerned with the opportunities and challenges of an ongoing digitalisation and medical innovation. At Philips, Shari focuses on new business models and strategies in pregnancy and parenting. Can you please give us an outline of what people can expect to learn about in your presentation at the IFA+ Summit? Our panel discussion deals with one of the most controversial topics in healthcare: data sharing. On the one hand, an increasing amount of health data helps us to diagnose and treat diseases better while cutting costs. One the other hand, healthcare professionals, research and governmental institutions and companies alike must ensure that this data is safe and secure. I expect that we will discuss the possible means of how we can protect the user, and what possible trade-offs patients could face when they blindly share data. How and when will consumers’ lives be changed or enhanced thanks to new technologies? We already see several trends and innovations that will completely disrupt the healthcare system. Patient-centred innovations, such as monitoring devices and educational apps, increasingly empower patients, and help them to make informed decisions about their own health. Big Data and Machine Learning will help us to develop new and better therapies faster. Telemedicine and monitoring of chronic diseases will ensure that we treat complications as soon as they appear – and thereby help us to cope with rising costs in healthcare. What kind of people should attend your panel? Every time I am on stage, I hope for a broad type of audience. Healthcare is such a central part of everyone’s life, and I believe that we need a public discussion on how we envision the future of healthcare. Anyone who worries, hopes and cares should be part of our discussion THE NEXT LEVEL OF SOCIETY Hall 26 b 5 Sept. 2017 4:30pm -5:30pm Digital Health: Enablement of Consumers and Clinicians André Sommer CEO, Cara by HiDoc Technologies André Sommer, CEO of Berlin-based Cara by HiDoc Technologies, sees great opportunities in modern healthcare through digital therapies. His company is an award-winning mobile health start-up with a grand vision: to transform millions of lives through better and faster medical and psychological care. As a medical doctor, I know how hard it is to establish new technologies in the healthcare sector. At the IFA+ Summit I want to take the opportunity to talk about the evolution in healthcare via technology and precision medicine. With our company we are facing this challenge from a consumerfocused point of view and I want to show you how we solved an important problem for our users. What does Cara do? 20% of all humans are suffering from digestive problems like food intolerances, irritable bowel syndrome or even an inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn’s. At Cara we empower patients suffering from chronic digestive diseases to live better lives. We take digestive health beyond the pill, bringing together behavioural, microbial and nutritional data. What are the key points of evolution coming up in the digital health sector that are really going to change people’s lives? In order to change people’s lives, two key points are essential: data accessibility and algorithms powered by AI. The reason being that insights into valuable data mean everything when you want to provide each patient with the best therapeutic option. How does the ‘Cara’ app work? Cara is the first AI-driven solution that enables patients to understand their digestive disease. We’ve developed the fastest solution to track your nutrition without the pain of calorie counting. You can also record your stress, mood, pain and other symptoms – and even your medications, all within seconds. Then, our data visualisation enables you to detect patterns between trigger factors and symptoms. On top of that, our artificial intelligence analytics give you actionable insights IFA International • Tuesday 5 th September 2017 9
