IFA 2013 Innovations Media Briefing: sustainability and products that save energy was the take-home message at Bosch. the Green Trail Sustainability and products that save energy was the take-home message at Bosch. In collaboration with the Monheimer Institut, Bosch will publish a report for IFA 2013 exploring the sustainable conscience in Germany. The Bosch Laboratory are concerned with creating household products that work silently and super-efficiently, such as the Super Silence dishwasher which runs at 39 decibel in the night programme with a top energy rating of A++. The Quick Start induction stove comes with larger heat fields suited to flattop grills, teppanyaki or a roasting tray. Melitta is a household name in Germany, inextricably linked to coffee-making in the home. The company continues to build on its tradition of “coffee competence, inventiveness and close relationship to its customers”. Having entered the fully automatic coffee machine market in 2008, the introduction of the Caffeo Barista signifies Melitta’s entry to the premium market. The clean chrome design and glossy surfaces houses coffee making technology capable of 18 different variations from around the world like the Americano, A True Barista flat white or café au lait and a “coffee memory” for up to four individuals. The two variations Caffeo Barista T and Caffeo Barista TS differ in that the latter can automatically select the appropriate bean for a coffee variety, decaffeinated for a decaf for example, and the former requires a manual selection, but both allow for two different coffee beans. The TS will be available at more specialist outlets. Melitta Caffeo Barista Beko, the famous consumer electronics brand from Turkey, has doubled its share of the German white goods market in the past three years. As the namegiver and main sponsor of the German Basketball Bundesliga since 2009, expect to see more of Beko as they plan to extend this partnership until at least 2016, with similar initiatives in Turkey and other European countries. At IFA 2013, Beko resides over Halle 7.1a with 1200 square metres of exhibition space to showcase, among other things, their energy efficient Eco-Smart range, their smart technology offering and steam power products. Some examples of what to expect include the dishwasher DSFN 6830 using only 6 litres of water, a fridge & freezer with an energy rating that is 50 percent more efficient than A+, a dishwasher with a “wash@once” programme featuring two separate water pressures suited to fragile glasses up top and grimy pots on the bottom and washing machine with steampower that allows users to refresh garments in as little as 20 minutes.
