IFA Sneak Peek Aiming for Perfection in Sound The headphone boom to continue with Sennheiser’s new high-end and lifestyle models Matthias Lücke, Product Manager Consumer Electronics at Sennheiser Vertrieb & Service, revealed several new headphone models at the IFA Media Briefing, including the Amperior, IE 800 and HD 700. Sennheiser products already have excellent sound quality, but from September on it can further be enhanced through the new digital amplifier HDVD 800 developed by the German audio specialist. We asked Matthias what new products wewill be seeing at this year’s IFA. [ Interview by Richard Barnes ] “We are showing our new lifestyle headphones called Amperior, bringing the professional Sennheiser club sound to the streets. That is why it features a microphone and a remote control. It’s very flexible, with 2 different cables and it works with any MP3 player. I believe you are also bringing some new inear headphones with you to Berlin? Yes indeed, our new highend model is known as the IE 800 and delivers excellent, crystal clear sound of the highest quality thanks to a new mini-transducer we developed. We also paid a lot of attention to comfort and flexibility, and I’m proud to say that the IE 800 headphones are the ones with the most innovations per square millimetre. And for precisely that reason, these small in-ear earphones can certainly compete with much larger high-end headphones. I’m assuming that the HD 700 that were announced earlier this year will also have a starring role in your presentation at IFA 2012? That’s right. The high-end model HD 700 features a perfect combination of outstanding acoustic properties and sophisticated product design. IFA visitors can test it at our stand in hall 3.2. How important is IFA to Sennheiser? It’s one of the main i n t e r n a t i o n a l s h ows for Sennheiser: a place where we show our latest products, and also where we launch new ones. And in terms of generating new business it is very important for us. IFA Sneak Peek How Low Can You Go? Sonos introduces the Sub for customers who want extra bass The introduction of the Sonos Sub, a sub-woofer, further enriches the already fine sound offered by Sonos’ speaker systems. And there’ll be more, but you will have to visit the Sonos booth to find out what. Paola Tarazona, PR Coordinator, EMEA, Sonos gives us a sneak preview... [ Interview by Richard Barnes ] The newest product that is being introduced at this moment is the Sonos Sub, which as the name suggests is a sub-woofer that goes with all existing Sonos speaker units, and enriches the bass-end frequencies. It’s a quality product that is both aesthetically pleasing and is very easy to install, but perhaps the most exciting thing about it is that it hugely improves the sound of the already excellent Sonos speaker systems. Sonos is growing very fast. Can you tell us why? It’s true that we are growing quickly, and that is because we have a bond with our customers, which is the result of our unrelenting search for perfection. They really love our products and what we find is that once a person has bought a Sonos system, they most usually buy again. But they also tell all their friends about the quality, and how easy Paola Tarazona PR Coordinator, EMEA, Sonos it is to set-up and operate. So for us, the greatest investment we can make is to continue to come up with great products so that our customers remain our best ambassadors. Summer red. Winner of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2012, presented by HRH Duke of Kent “ ‘Made in Britain’ is increasingly seen as a marque of quality across the globe” At the forefront of home appliance innovation and flying the flag for Britain is exhibitor Glen Dimplex Home Appliances, the parent company of leading cooking brands Stoves, Belling and New World. The company’s “Made in Britain” message has been well received both domestically and abroad, with more people focusing on a high quality, built-to-last product. [ by Richard Barnes ] GDHA began actively promoting its Belling, Stoves and New World products as Made in Britain in 2009 and feedback has been very positive. The company also recently won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2012 in the International Trade category, after overseas sales of its British-made cooking appliances dramatically increased, demonstrating that ‘Made in Britain’ is increasingly seen as a marque of quality across the globe. Committed to UK manufacturing, GDHA is proud to be the only major cooking appliance manufacturer still producing across all categories in the UK. Visitors to this year’s show will have the opportunity to view GDHA’s range cooker collection, Colour Boutique, a colour concept which gives consumers the opportunity to choose from 12 colours across the most popular Stoves and Belling range cookers (divided into four seasonal collections: Summer splash, Fresh spring, Autumn chic and Urban winter). Also adding a splash of cooking colour is their brand New World, whose Colours range of built-in ovens has now been extended to include freestanding cookers. New World showcased its full 9 colour offering on stand. The collection perfectly complements small appliances from Morphy Richards’ Colour Boutique collection.
