Trade Talk Spanish

Trade Talk Spanish market gets a boost from E-commerce Spain’s confidence index is up by nine points Worten, the leading white goods, consumer electronics and entertainment chain in Portugal, launched in Spain in 2009 with nine stores. Today it has over 30 stores there. IFA International asked Nuno Lima Natario, Head of Commercial, Worten, Spain, how business is going in that country The Spanish market in general is growing slightly and e-commerce is playing a highly significant role in this. Specifically, telco is still the fastest growing category but we are also seeing an increase in sales of household appliances. Something else that is very positive for our market is that Spanish consumer confidence is improving – the confidence index rose by nine points in the second quarter of this year. We are in line with the targets we had set with e-commerce registering strong growth at more than 200%. What challenges are ahead for the company? We have some big challenges ahead at Worten. Right now we are heavily committed to growing the company in Spain with major investment in omnichannel, a new brand image and a strategy that is linked to the opening of stores across the country. There are also fresh developments in the industry where new categories such as wearables, the Internet of Things and the demands of increasingly discerning consumers mean that retailers need to move forward quickly to continue to be leaders. What are you looking for at IFA this year? New products in the electronics market will be one of the main attractions but the situation in terms of immediate trends and yearend forecasts is also good. IFA also brings together the major lines of business, which is a fundamental and differential aspect for us because it gives us a global vision of the industry and all ranges. Direct contact with manufacturers and suppliers and networking are also crucial factors. Since I joined Worten I have We are heavily committed to growing the company in Spain attended the fair every year. IFA has become a key event for the sector worldwide and a benchmark for manufacturers and retailers. How do you prepare for the show, and what are the secrets for a successful IFA? The key thing is making the most of the time the fair lasts. The Worten Spain team that goes to IFA prepares beforehand in coordination with suppliers for this unique time in the year by identifying key opportunities based on the needs of our customers and the trends we see in the market. Nuno Lima Natario Worten Spain’s Nuno Lima Natario A Worten megastore WORTEN OFFERS THREE TYPES OF RETAIL OUTLET WORTEN is the leading white goods, consumer electronics and entertainment chain in Portugal – owned by Portuguese retail group Sonae.
