Dinner is either taken at Lake House, prepared by a chef in the spacious kitchen, or the group can use the barbecue to prepare a meal. “After breakfast, people might have some activities organised – yoga, tai chi, they might take the electric bikes out,” explains Larissa. “This little hamlet around Musk is really cool because, just down the road, you have Daylesford Cider, where they have 1,800 heritage apple trees and do woodfired pizzas, Istra Smallgoods and Passing Clouds boutique winery, so there are a few nice places people can get to within a few minutes on the bikes.” There are enough hidden corners to find a quiet spot to read or contemplate life, too. A particular favourite is the Alice in Wonderland-esque spot in the hedge maze beneath a hanging pot of staghorn ferns. There’s also a cedar hot tub and fishing rods for those who want to try their hand at catching trout from the lake. Of course, there’s ample opportunity to help out on the farm. “Our guests, particularly those at the cooking school, have always been interested in gardening and growing and this allows them to be part of that continuous loop of grow, harvest, cook, connect and enjoy through the food system,” explains Larissa. “It gives people the chance to immerse themselves in country life, but it’s a soft immersion.
