Lookbook Style & Beauty In the lexicon of men’s fashion, one term has dominated the sartorial conversation like no other in the past decade. The concept of “athleisurewear” - that is, beautifully constructed sports clothing designed for life beyond the gym – might have begun as a niche concern amongst industry insiders and those who frequent the men’s-fashion trade fair Pitti Uomo in Florence (a bellwether of where the industry is headed). But gradually and steadfastly, it’s become part of contemporary menswear language, informing every facet of how men dress today – whether they know it or not. “Activewear is now part of our everyday uniform,” says Damien Paul, head of menswear at MatchesFashion. “This is a growing category for us, up nearly threequarters year on year. Working with mills in his native Italy, Faloni’s cashmere hoodies became best-selling items when they debuted six years ago, thanks to their handcrafted construction and unrivalled attention to detail; casualwear for the private-jet contingent. Now, in keeping with that ethos of sleekly designed ease, Faloni has released a range of cashmere joggers. Handmade in Bergamo, they come with a drawstring waist but are tailored with a tapered fit to negate sagging.
