from the Editor christian schwalbach Photo Joël Saget We invite you to explore your newly relaunched online home, replete with a wealth of news and information The Black TIE For this issue’s cover, our moniker has been intricately fashioned by the Italian designer Stefano Ricci, which painstakingly pressed black Swarovski crystals onto a rectangle of black and grey paisley silk. Log on to centurion-magazine.com/covercraft to view how it – and our previous covers – were created. Photographed by Andreas Achmann We tend to think of Centurion as a kind of “Best of”. Not in the sense of a randomly assembled collection of “hits” forced together in the way of far too many music compilations, but rather in the sense that with four editions annually we have the privilege (and responsibility) to be highly selective in the themes and ideas that make their way into your magazine. The challenge is a constantly fascinating one. The top luxury brands are committed to the pursuit of absolute quality, authenticity and exclusivity in whatever form, regardless of whether they are producing fine wine, haute couture, superyachts or something as humble as salt or olive oil. The pursuit of excellence is an end in itself and we are constantly impressed by the quality and originality of products and services that our pursuit yields. Four times a year we pause for thought and present that “Best of” in printed form, but what happens if you dip your toes into the luxe waters in between? The result is our online home at www.centurion-magazine.com, where we provide daily reports on the brightest and best ideas to inspire your life, across all areas from motoring and yachts, to arts and culture, to home and property, as well as travel, gastronomy and much, much more. This is the natural extension of the print magazine and includes all those ideas that the editors would love to include in the magazine, but for reasons of space or timing are sadly unable to do so. We are delighted now to announce the relaunch of Centurion online with even more travel recommendations and variety of content. The site is presented with a new, highly interactive and user-friendly design to suit whatever device you favour, wherever you are and whenever you want to access it. It is in this revolutionary and dynamic new-look channel where we’ll also be featuring extra content – be it slideshows, photo galleries, Q&As or video interviews – relating to features in the magazine. For example, our story on the new Aman hotel in Greece (The New Riviera, page 90), is expanded online with a bevy of images illustrating the diversity of the Peloponnese newcomer’s villas as well as a special consultation with the property’s adept sommelier for an exclusive wine list, especially for our readers. To learn more about our relaunch, turn to page 22 – we look forward to welcoming you online. CENTURION-Magazine.COM 19
