The ,995 machine (which can simulate up to 90 kilograms of weight via retractable arms and pulleys) offers multiweek, goal-focused workout series as part of its monthly subscription plan. Revitalising the at-home sweat session is not exactly reinventing the wheel. “We watched our moms work out to Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons, and I remember my grandfather had little booklets by Jack LaLanne that he would work out to,” obé fitness cofounder Mark Mullett says of himself and Ashley Mills, who created obé, a fitnesscentred streaming service, in an attempt to combine roll-outof-bed convenience with the pumped-up sense of community of a traditional group class (obefitness.com). I was there to engage in some next-level relaxation with NuCalm, a ,695 system (or for 30 minutes at ReCover) that has been cleared by the FDA to treat anxiety, insomnia and depression by using binaural beats to channel brainwaves into their most blissed-out state.
