The German, who regularly photographs for Elle and GQ, met Delvoye in the Museum Tinguely, Basel, at his new solo exhibition. AVRIL GROOM Centurion’s fashion editor-at-large was struck in Rabih Kayrouz’s Paris studio to see the amazing display of his work. “So modern, so superficially simple (though not at all), so beautiful and calm,” says the London-based journalist, who spoke with contacts round the globe for Levantine Spark (p40), her profile of Lebanese design and its optimistic future. MARIO GOMEZ Summing up his fashion shoot, Style & Substance (p56 with three images, the Italian photographer says: “Spanish blood, Italian taste and Ibiza’s spirit.” Gomez has been frequenting the Balearic isle since the 1980s and sought to capture its essence in the shoot. “I love beauty in every single way – it’s the soul of my existence,” says the Milan resident, who has also shot for a wide range of Italian and Spanish publications. LISA GRAINGER “Africa to me is the most incredible continent,” says the travel writer, who explored the latest openings from Madagascar to Ethiopia in African Outback (p25). “In the past year, I’ve helicoptered across the Rift Valley, tracked rhino on foot and swum in a pool at the top of the Victoria Falls.
