Centurion India Spring 2015

f r o m t h e EDITOR C H R I S T I A N S C H W A L B A C H Magazines, like most creative endeavours, are collaborative efforts. They involve the editors, who spearhead the compelling blend of stories that make up the issue’s narrative; the talented writers, whose reportorial dexterity bring those stories to life; the gifted photographers, whose engaging images engender wanderlust and reflection; the art and illustrative teams, who give the features their visual dynamism – and last, but certainly not least, the readers who react, engage and respond to them. The structure of all of these influences varies from publication to publication, but here at Centurion, our concentration has always been on the strength of one crucial external element: you the reader, for whom we produce this title. We do everything we can to ensure each edition is filled from cover to cover with relevant articles to set ourselves apart in an ever more crowded media landscape. And part of this is now what you care most about – so as in years past, we would like to request your input, feedback, suggestions and insights for our 2015 Readers Survey. The survey – the categories of which are as wide-ranging as our coverage areas and, by extension, your interests (from travel and destinations to yachting, motoring and horology) – is an opportunity for you to share any thoughts, guidance and recommendations you might have for the print version or for our companion online site, centurion-magazine.com. For your participation, which will ensure our content remains tangible, inspiring and of-the-moment, we will make a donation to the international charity Doctors Without Borders. No one can ever be the last word on the people, places and purveyors of distinction, but with your contribution, we can come as close as possible. We appreciate your time and involvement and hope you enjoy this spring issue of Centurion. After all, you’ve had a hand in creating it. THE LIGHT BLACK This issue’s cover features the work of the late German artist Heinrich Heidersberger. His rhythmograms are intricately curved luminescent compositions weaving abstract figures, organisms and spaces using a large deconstructed photographic machine of his own design.
