By Adam Hay-Nicholls PHOTO WOLFANGO Lamborghini’s Huracán EVO RWD Spyder revels in the glamorous background of the Costa Smeralda This year may have yielded the shortest, quietest Mediterranean summer on record, but an air bridge to Sardinia, a pop-up Lamborghini Lounge in Porto Cervo, and the Spyder version of the Italian marque’s new Hurácan EVO RWD came together to provide distilled and intense open-top thrills before the sun began to set. Social distancing in a Lamborghini seems to defeat the point; those muscular curves, deafening exhausts and outrageous paint schemes suggest a certain openness to intimacy. The shape of the Huracán is familiar to petrolheads, but this 2020 evolution has rear, rather than all, wheel drive. That makes it lighter and more exhilarating – a supercar that really yearns to be driven, with unfiltered feedback, balletic cornering balance and linear, yet savage, thrust.
