|Objects| Boarding This Is It feels like time travelling to the future. All the usual parameters have been tweaked in fascinating ways of 17.3 metres, she is the largest aluminium sailing catamaran in the world, and the first within the Perini Navi fleet. Another first is a sailing museum, as the flybridge will be used for virtual exhibitions, workshops and conferences, while a main gallery will showcase art. The exterior and interior design are by young French naval architect Axel de Beaufort. The design is reminiscent of classic yachts with mahogany, teak and stripes to the fore – a traditional look that’s been given a modern interpretation. A 56m regatta sailing yacht and a 77m yacht with an innovative Falcon Rig (as onboard Maltese Falcon, an iconic yacht from the yard, which was delivered in 2006) are in the Perini Navi pipeline as well. Tecnomar’s 43.5m This Is It is the first unit of a new breed of motor catamaran with a beam of 14.5 metres and approximately 750GT. TISG has fulfilled an owner’s dream with this unconventional build in which space is used in a new way. Boarding this vessel feels like time travelling to the future. All the usual parameters have been tweaked in fascinating ways – asymmetric spaces, terraces, large glass windows, a very geometrical use of mirrors and carpets. “The realisation of this extraordinary project challenges the conventional perceptions, driving us to completely recreate the boundaries of aesthetic parameters,” says Costantino. Leather, Alcantara, oak, teak, grey marble and light hues of beige and platinum grey define the interior harmony of the vessel, which hosts guests in six well-appointed cabins. The Admiral Silver Star, a motor yacht with an aluminium hull and superstructure with an overall length of 55.2 metres, was launched earlier this year and accommodates up to 12 guests in an elegant interior created by Italian designer Giorgio Armani. Shades of taupe, stylishly used in the interiors, walls, ceilings and doors and highlighted by little dots of blue, comprise the colour world that creates this timeless interior, amid precious marbles and backlit lighting that create the elegance for which Armani is known. Indeed, all accessories and decor onboard come from the Armani Casa collection. The epic collaboration between the Admiral brand and the Giorgio Armani maison was announced at an exclusive event this past February, during which Costantino painted the road map for future builds – including the new mega yacht, Admiral 72 by Giorgio Armani. It’s a sign of how TISG doesn’t just talk the talk, it walks the walk – and it goes some way to explaining why the group has become such a key player in the market in a short time. The detailing and complexity of its yachts truly impress. The overall performance of each of the brands within TISG allows it to surprise us again and again. And TISG promises to continue to push the limits in yacht building for years to come. theitalianseagroup.com PHOTOS © THE ITALIAN SEA GROUP The M/Y Silver Star, with interior design by Giorgio Armani 48 CENTURION-MAGAZINE.COM
