3 KANGAROO ISLAND EARTHLY DELIGHTS Off the mainland of South Australia, the country’s third-largest island has been a must-visit destination for years, with an amazing array of wildlife to discover in the prettiest of locations. Recent times have been hard, though, particularly with the wildfires of 2020, which devastated almost half the island. The need to take care of such a fragile environment while also promoting a more sustainable form of tourism manifests itself in WanderPods (pictured): four eco-aware cabins built to provide protection and comfort in Australia’s harsh and varied climate. The four pods, perched on a hill overlooking Snelling Beach, will host 10 people, giving them access to the island’s many charms, including outdoor dining with Gastronomo and a trip to the Islander Estate vineyards. And it is always in a good cause – deeply connected to the local ecosystem, up to 30 per cent of revenue from the resort will directly benefit local communities. PHOTO © WANDER 20
