9 VIENNA MODERN LEGACY The Austrian capital is rising once again, led by a pair of new art museums, Albertina Modern – the younger, hipper cousin to The Albertina, one of Europe’s great collections – and the Heidi Horten Collection, an eye-popping private assemblage of modern and contemporary works that opened in 2022. The Rosewood Vienna (pictured) also debuted last year, perhaps the city’s most exciting hotel in a decade and one that is leading a small wave of hospitality innovation, joined by a few notable boutique properties (Motto, Josefine, Almanac Palais, The Hoxton) and a Mandarin Oriental that is still in development.
