DE BETHUNE DB25L MILKY

DE BETHUNE DB25L MILKY WAY RRP: 1,000 THE HOUR GLASS EDIT A JOURNEY BEYOND TIME AND SPACE As far as emerging technologies go, travelling through time may not be the far-fetched science fiction theory that was once thought to be. There are two types of time travel: into the future, and into the past. The 13.2 Billion year old Milky Way contains an estimated range of 100-400 billion stars, and a 100 billion planets; in 2017, the world of watchmaking has embraced our fascination with the vastly unexplored inner and outer spaces and looked into the literal stars for inspiration and as a result, there’s a fierce magic about the spell-binding pieces. This year we have seen the debut of some cutting-edge timepieces, one of which being The Horological Machine No 7 (HM7) Aquapod from MB&F. Diving deep into the abyss, MB&F’s organic jellyfish-inspired design highlights the theme of inner space exploration; a central flying tourbillon tops the symmetric movement architecture, with indications radiating out from the centre like ripples in a pond; pushing the boundaries beyond the complexity of time and space. On the other end of the spectrum of space, Parmigiani Fleurier’s new Tonda 1950 set Galaxy shines its magic with it’s mesmerising sombre midnight blue Aventurine dial, encased within a solid rose gold case and 84 stunning baguette-cut diamonds in the bezel. A brilliant metallic blue starlit sky that represents the link between our dreams and our imaginations, and the halo of light encapsulating our love and fascination for the galaxy.

MB&F HM7 AQUAPOD RRP: 1,000 PARMIGIANI FLEURIER TONDA 1950 SET GALAXY RRP: ,800 URWERK UR-T8 RRP: 4,000 De Bethune and Urwerk also features the future of galactic couture and challenges the concept of the wristwatch. De Bethune’s DB25l Milky Way is inspired by the futuristic combination of elements and material, using De Bethune’s traditional heat blued titanium for its dial and polished with hand-embedded tiny white gold spheres; successfully capturing the fragile beauty of the heavens in material form. These featured timepieces present a strong personality and a recognisable visual signature - a watch that connects the world of desires, visions and imaginations.
