CONTRIBUTORS IN THIS ISSUE 2 1 COURTESY OF THE CONTRIBUTORS 1 Aoife O’Riordain WRITER “Dublin delights”, p 24 London-based for many years, O’Riordain now divides her time between the British capital and her native Dublin. She is a regular contributor to the travel pages of The Independent and Condé Nast Traveller. “It was wonderful to be able to put Dublin in the spotlight. Despite the recent years of gloom and penny-pinching, I was really struck by the legion of people with exciting new ideas and enthusiasm who are busy reinventing the scene there.” 2 Frederik Wissink PHOTOGRAPHER “Devouring HCMCS’s An Phu”, p 60 Frederik Wissink began his career eight years ago upon arriving in Ho Chi Minh City. Today, he shoots for The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, as well as for a range of interior design and architectural clients across Asia. “The hardest thing about shooting this article was trying not to overeat and overdrink. Restaurateurs in Vietnam are generous folk!” says Wissink. “It doesn’t matter if they are Western or Vietnamese, all enjoy a good drink – or five.” 3 Mariana Rapoport WRITER “Design and conquer”, p 41 “I met Federico Churba almost ten years ago when his career had just started. It was refreshing to discover that although he has become number one in the field of industrial design in Argentina, he’s still a humble, simple and pleasant person,” says Rapoport, who has been Wallpaper’s Buenos Aires correspondent since its launch. She is also a regular contributor to El Mercurio de Chile. KEEP IN TOUCH We welcome your comments and recommendations, which we may edit for clarity and space. There is a real genuine sense amongst the designers of wanting the country’s riches and crafts to be shared by the world.” 5 Rachel Howard WRITER “Postcard from paradise”, p 66 “I grew up in Greece and pretty much came of age in the Pirate Bar on Hydra. Back in the day, you’d see Leonard Cohen propping up the bar. This time, it was Chloë Sevigny. No matter how many rum and cokes you sink the night before, diving off the rocks into the deep blue sea is an instant pick-me-up.” Howard writes on travel, food and design for National Geographic Traveller and How to Spend It, among others. 4 5 departures-international.com 3 13
