Experts in the Exceptional The grandest renovation in Harrods’ history is setting the standard for luxury service with two magnificent spaces for watches and men’s fashion

PROMOTION From its beginnings in 1834 as a wholesale grocer and tea merchants in the East End of London to its elevation to the world’s most renowned department store with an unparalleled range of merchandise, Harrods has undergone many changes through the years. Yet the latest renovation project is possibly the most extensive in its hallowed history. One of the first beneficiaries of this major overhaul are watch lovers, with all things horological covered in the complete redevelopment and expansion of Harrods Fine Watches. The watch offering is now spread over two floors, with a magnificent central, sweeping marble-lined staircase connecting world-leading watch brands in one unique space. Some of the most famous names in haute horology display their fabulous fare in The Harrods Fine Watches, including A.Lange & Sohne, Audemars Piguet, Hublot, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Panerai, Roger Dubuis, Rolex and Vacheron Constantin, as well as a multibrand section in which specially designed counters for H. Moser & Cie, Girard Perregaux, Montblanc, Tag Heuer, Tudor, Ulysse Nardin, Zenith and Harrods Vintage appear. Exclusive elements to Harrods are a recurring feature in these areas and there is an enhanced focus on already impeccable service from entering the store to The hallowed Knightsbridge store now features a superlative showroom hosting hero brands from the world of watches, as well as an immersive men’s fashion destination, designed to cater for every sartorial need. after care. Additional touches include on-site watchmakers – a first for a department store – as well as the presence of Buben & Zorweg, creators of exemplary safes and watch winders. If the world of time certainly doesn’t stand still at Harrods then the world of fashion moves even faster. October sees the unveiling of the third of a seven-phase development of the men’s fashion offering at Harrods. The Harrodian menswear revolution began in December 2018, with the opening of the Men’s Superbrands department. Designed by David Collins Studio, the space on the second floor is a fusion of a classic men’s tailoring aesthetic and the store’s architectural features, with a floor plan that ensures easy navigation to discover the latest from distinguished brands such as Burberry, Tom Ford, Dior, Fendi, Balenciaga, Gucci, Loro Piana and Louis Vuitton. The latest additions to the revamped menswear destination, The International Designer Rooms, house the hottest names in fashion, including Loewe, Alexander McQueen, Moncler, Off- White, Givenchy, and Thom Browne, to name but a few of the trend-making brands available in the new space. In total, the Menswear and Sports department will take over the entire second floor on completion in 2020 – a total of almost 14,500sq m – cementing Harrods’ position as a global go-to for the latest and greatest in fashion.
