PROMOTION 90 Remarkable Years Founded in 1928, Paradores de Turismo is marking nine decades of providing superior accommodation in some of Spain’s most remarkable historical buildings Paradores de Turismo is celebrating its 90th anniversary, which commemorates the nine decades in which the chain has played an important role in the development of tourism in Spain. This commemoration includes a full, intense programme of events and activities to make this special year an unforgettable experience. Ever since its inception, Paradores has worked with the aim of developing a high-quality tourism product which would be the image of the Spanish hotel sector and a benchmark for Marca España (Brand Spain) on the international market. Paradores is a unique tourism concept in the world, with the majority of its facilities located in historical buildings (castles, fortresses, convents, palaces, etc.) and/or in areas of exceptional natural beauty. Twenty-Five per cent of the Paradores are located in UNESCO Biosphere Reserves. Working to restore historical and artistic heritage through the use of the hotel itself, this singular company pays special attention to the environment. At present, Paradores has 97 establishments and more than 10,000 hotel beds. In 2017, 1.5 million guests stayed at their hotels, 1.3 million rooms/nights were sold, as were 2.2 million restaurant covers. Paradores has become a leader in the restaurant sector in Spain. In 2017 it served 2.2 million covers, proving the satisfaction that our guests have with the gastronomic service at Paradores. Its hallmarks are high-quality ingredients, fresh products, traditional recipes and a strong commitment to offer clients the best gastronomy from each region in Spain. The gastronomy at Paradores has won several awards, such as the “Best Gastronomic Institution“ from the Royal Academy of Gastronomy; the Cubi price for “Best Gastronomic Institution“ given by FACYRE and the “Best Hotel Chain“ in the Club de Gourmets magazine awards.
