TRAVEL WORKING WORLDS Discovering the day-to-day lives of people in the destinations you visit is a great way to get a different perspective, and understand a place in more depth. More and more travellers are opting to enhance their travel experiences by getting to know local people, and experiencing the way they make a living. Viking offers guests the chance to witness the working world in many of it’s destinations. In Croatia you could join a local oyster fisherman to bring in the day’s catch. Or in Portugal visit a bakery where bread has been made the same way every day for centuries. It is these unique experiences that really make for unforgettable memories and the reason why more travellers are seeking them out. This year, the spotlight has been firmly placed on animal welfare in particular. Travellers are being encouraged to boycott certain practices that we might partake in on holiday, including elephant rides, tiger selfies and dolphin shows, as they have been associated with the mistreatment of animals.
