» PCB & ASSEMBLY Control center for the Smart Factory Software suite digitalizes the entire shop floor With the Pulse Pro, operators have an overview of the entire shop floor In the software suite Pulse Pro, Asys bundles its range of software solutions for the shop floor. It is the control center of the Smart Factory and offers solutions on all layers with its numerous apps. The company thus closes the gap between the shop floor and the MES/ERP systems. Pulse Pro offers seven software modules. These help to control automated material flows on the shop floor, to achieve a dynamic just-in-time supply for each production step and to track all data flows. All applications are implemented in the same look to provide orientation. All of them are consolidated in a central suite to make it as user-friendly as possible for production managers from their cockpits. Source: Asys New application name The well-known smart assistance system „Pulse „ from Asys has not disappeared as a result of the merger but has merely been given a new classification. The application can now be found under the name „Smart Alerts“. The smart assistance system for machine-human communication supports the operator in production. Walking distances are reduced and, thanks to early notifications, line stoppages are effectively avoided. The app is located within the Pulse Pro module „Observe & Control“. Pulse Pro – smart, modular and efficient All data flows in production can be brought together in the software suite. This achieves maximum transparency in the production processes. Operators have an overview of the entire shop floor and can achieve optimum productivity. Thanks to Pulse Pro, the rapidly growing complexity in manufacturing becomes manageable. Another advantage: Pulse Pro easily switches between existing systems and thereby supplements the functions that are not yet or only partially considered. Thanks to the modular and scalable concept, integration can be realized in several steps. www.asys-group.com Optimizing production line Communication package for stencil printer ITW EAE released a SECS/GEM communication package for the MPM Edison printer. SECS/GEM is a semiconductor market communication standard that provides a common interface between manufacturing equipment. The Edison package collects and logs process data which can be used to optimize the production line. The MPM Edison is an accurate printer with the advanced technology needed for ultra-fine pitch and micro aperture printing processes. This makes it ideally suited for advanced semiconduc tor stencil printing applications. The printer has a proven print process capability greater than 2 Cpk for 0201 metric components. With a built-in ± 8 micron machine alignment, and ± 15 micron wet print accuracy (≥ 2 Cpk @ 6 sigma, Edison‘s wet print accuracy is 25 % better than the next best printers. This solution has a transfer efficiency that exceeds requirements for the smallest apertures. A single high precision load-cell with closed-loop pressure control and motor driven system enable precise and consistent squeegee force control across the entire print stroke in both directions, which helps improve yields. Innovative machine design achieves ultra-tight coplanarity between stencil and substrate enabling yield improvement for ultra-thin stencil printing. The SECS/GEM communication package is available for the MPM Edison printer “This new SECS/GEM package will provide a ready-made interface for our semiconductor customers,” said Wayne Wang, MPM Business Manager. “MPM printers also feature ‘OpenApps’, an open application interface with a development kit that allows customers to develop custom interfaces in support of Industry 4.0 initiatives.” www.itweae.com Source: ITW EAE 24 EPP Europe » 04|2021

Source: Electrolube Electronic circuitry protection UVCL coating increases durability of electric vehicle management system The low viscosity, single component UVCL provides high level of protection for electronic circuitry at high production throughputs With the rise in demand for electric and hybrid vehicles, protecting battery systems from harsh environments has never been more critical. The secret to enhancing battery performance, safety and reliability lies in implementing the most effective electro-chemical protection materials, particularly given the increasing trend towards high-capacity, fast charging battery packs. Electrolube’s extensive portfolio of resins, coatings and thermal management solutions supports the protection of EV batteries. An EV customer approached the company with an issue with an existing coating they had used from a supplier for their Battery Management System (BMS). It monitors parameters such as temperature, voltage and current in and out of the battery pack to ensure it is operating in safe conditions at all times. BMS is a critical system that’s responsible for the thermal management of the battery and not only adjusts cooling, but can trigger other safety mechanisms to minimise risk. The EV battery customer required a robust, high performance coating that was scratch resistant, solvent-free and provided protection against harsh environments. Which is why the low viscosity, single component, UVCL, was selected to protect the BMS. It provides high level of protection at high production throughputs. The coating also cures within seconds upon UV light exposure and has a highly effective, moisture initiated secondary cure mechanism to ensure curing in shadowed areas. UVCL is VOC-free and non-flammable, and is applied via selective spray equipment. This coating allows the application of relatively thin films and requires no dilution, so it is ready to use instantly. It also provides excellent storage stability and a long shelf life. With the high flexibility, the coating provides protection in harsh environments, including high humidity, thermal shock, moisture, corrosive and chemical atmospheres. The coating also fluoresces under UV light for ease of inspection and offers excellent electrical properties with a wide operating temperature range of –65 °C to +135 °C. Ron Jakeman, Managing Director, comments, “We are very pleased to have provided such a successful solution for this EV application, especially given the critical nature of BMS. We provide effective solutions that have have been tested and proven to address heat, performance and protection issues. We have always relished challenges, it’s what drives us to innovate constantly, and the EV battery industry is increasingly reaching out to us for solutions that safeguard every conceivable aspect of an EV battery to ensure they have every box ticked when it comes to safety, reliability and performance.” www.electrolube.com Monitoring package Programming & scheduling Production assistance package #YamahaYRM20 smt.yamaha-motor-im.de/tour/yrm20/ TRUSTED TECHNOLOGY DISCOVER NEW YRM20 MOUNTER & YsUP SOFTWARE PLATFORM Traceability package Maintenance package M2M & advanced communication interfaces EPP Europe » 04|2021 25 1769043-2.indd 1 12.02.21 11:12
