» PCB & ASSEMBLYIn 1993 Phonotronica developedthe first product for theautomation of telephoneconnections in Bulgaria andimplemented it in the departmentsof the national telecommunicationscompanySource: PhonotronicaWith two solder pots and four solder nozzles, the Versaflow 3/35 ensures high throughput. This allows 12 boards to be soldered in each frame with maximum efficiencySource: C. Fischer | ErsaSource: C. Fischer | Ersaduction. It was therefore essential to invest in a morepowerful system,” recalls COO Valentin Zhelyazkovfrom the EMS service provider. After careful evaluation, those responsible at theEMS company opted for the Versaflow 3/35 GlobalEdition – a selective soldering system that wasadapted to the requirements of the project togetherwith the Ersa team. An absolutely unique feature ofthe customized selective soldering machine: foursoldering nozzles. The adaptation was implementedefficiently with the help of Ersa Service – the result:Process Manager Plamen Enchev and COO Valentin Zhelyazkov (here with Ersa Area SalesManager Christian Ott and Nikolay Momchilov, Managing Director ERSA-Bulgaria) aredelighted with the smooth production of the Versaflow 3/35, which doubled output atPhonotronicadoubling of the throughput, smooth process flow, optimum quality. Indirect effect: the team grew to itscurrent size of 30 employees. Christian Ott: “We havea really strong team here that works hand in handand knows how to use the hardware optimally. Projectslike this only work if you have a partner wholistens and offers solutions.”Partnership as a success factor –local and reliable“Ersa is one of our best hardware suppliers – both interms of equipment and service. The response timesare excellent – whether from Germany or directly fromBulgaria, which is only a few steps away on foot,” TheEMS company is convinced. They may be a small team, but it lives the cohesion of a large family and goodmanufacturing practices. Regular outdoor events andmountain tours promote cohesion and contribute tothe exceptionally positive working culture, which ultimatelyalso leads to top quality in production. In thefuture, the company plans to automate certain processes, implement further THT projects and further expandits flexibility in selective soldering. In Ersa, thecompany has a reliable partner at its side, whose comprehensiveproduct portfolio fits in perfectly with thelong-term strategy oft he EMS service provider. Theteam is sure to have many more successful projectsthat are geared towards customer requirements andinternational trends in electronics production.www.ersa.com | www.phonotronica.com38 EPP Europe » 05 | 2025

Product Updates « PCB & ASSEMBLYNew collaboration for integration a new placement machineModernizing the production capabilitiesEuroplacer is thrilled to announce a new collaborationwith Scheiber for the successful integration ofthe new ii-N2 SMT placement machine from thecompany’s advanced iineo range. This state-of-theartmachine marks an important step in modernizingthe production capabilities, strengthening its competitiveedge while upholding its commitment tolocal industry and innovation.According to Mr. Scheiber, the investment in theii-N2 was a natural evolution to meet new marketdemands. “The iiCo machine served us well but hadreached its limits. The ii-N2 ensures technologicalcontinuity, improves quality, and aligns perfectlywith our ambitions to remain competitive while preservinglocal jobs.”The ii-N2 placement machine addresses critical productivityand quality challenges for Scheiber whilemaintaining the flexibility necessary for small andmedium production runs. Its ability to handle a rangeof components has already provided new opportunities, positioning the company for continued success.“For us, it‘s more than just a machine; it‘s a completeecosystem that adapts as we evolve,” shared GéraldineMary, Scheiber’s Operations Manager. The ii-N2 placement machineaddresses critical productivityand quality challengesDespite space constraints, the installation of theii-N2 was successfullyexecuted with Europlacer‘ssupport. Results included asubstantial boost in productioncapacity, faster installation times, and reducedchangeover times. “We’ve gained in bothquality and flexibility, which are critical in our industry,”noted Mr. Scheiber. The collaboration between both companies goesbeyond the acquisition of ii-N2. They are committedto leveraging advanced technologies to achieve evengreater precision and efficiency.Looking ahead, Scheiber intends to explore additionalfeatures of the ii-N2’s ecosystem to drive continuousimprovement. “This partnership exemplifiesinnovation and local commitment, paving the wayfor sustained growth and competitiveness,” addedMs. Mary.www.europlacer.comSource: EuroplacerCuring adhesives with a significantly higher intensityNew bluepoint LED opticDr. Hönle AG has developed a new lenstype for its bluepoint LED UV curing unitseries, which focuses the light into a linearirradiation and can therefore cure adhesiveswith a significantly higher intensity. The high intensity is usually requiredfor applications in which a gap must beirradiated, such as active alignment. The new optic can simply be screwedonto the LED heads of the bluepoint LEDand bluepoint LED eco devices fromHönle. It is not necessary to purchase newLED devices. The new optic is suitable forwavelengths of 365/385/405 nm. The focusedlight delivers an irradiation area of10 mm x 1 mm and can achieve intensitiesof up to 7,000 mW/cm2. The light isdistributed absolutely homogeneouslyacross the irradiation field thanks to thespecial shape of the lens. The optic is particularlysuitable for small-area appli-cations where a particularly high intensityis required in a small space. This isnecessary, for example, when curing ingaps. Adhesives dispensed in annulargaps can be cured quickly and reliably byarranging several LED heads in a circlearound the circumference. The optimizedcuring and high intensity enable theshortest curing cycles for your process. The bluepoint LED UV spotlight seriesfrom Hönle is especially suitable for curingUV adhesives in industrial assemblyprocesses. The compact dimensions of thebluepoint LED head allow integration intothe machine even where space is limited. The LED heads are passively cooled andrequire neither fans nor water cooling. AsLEDs do not emit IR energy, curing takesplace at low temperatures. This makesLED devices ideal for use with temperature-sensitivesubstrates.The bluepoint LED UV spotlight series isespecially suitable for curing UV adhesivesin industrial assembly processesTypical applications for bluepoint deviceswith the new lens include active alignment, rod lens or lens bonding in optics ormedical technology, as well as underfillsor securing SMDs on printed circuitboards in the electronics sector. For allthese applications, UV adhesives from Panacol‘sVitralit series are also availablethat are specially adapted to the wavelengthsof the bluepoint LED.www.panacol.deSource: Dr. HönleEPP Europe » 05 | 2025 39
