This has meant introducing fishing and mariculture opportunities to communities living on the West Coast of the Namakwa District. PROJECT LOCATION Port Nolloth, Hondeklipbay, Kleinzee and Brazil near Kleinzee, which are located in the following Local Municipalities: Richtersveld, Nama Khoi and Kamiesberg. 15 BIOMASS PROCESSING The Namakwa District Municipality had identified through the office of Local Economic Development the potential processing of alien trees being eradicated as part of the Working on Water programme as an economic activity for the local communities. The project will entail the processing of raw material like the prosopis trees to create products such biomass, carbonised coal, charcoal, graphite, organic fertilizer, animal feed, tar and biofuel as well as traditional medicine. The project will be utilised to empower SMMEs as well as individual community members to form part of the biomass supply chain. Property needs to be developed to cater to the working class and to retired citizens.
