24 SPECIAL FEATURE AMUSEMENT PARKS Go like a tiger with Tigris Florida’s tallest coaster heading for Tampa Talinn’s Skypark set to offer all-weather fun Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has announced Tigris, a new triple-launch steel coaster – and Florida’s tallest – due to be delivered in the next few weeks. Tigris will catapult riders through looping twists with forward and backward motion, breath-taking drops, a 150-foot skyward surge, and an inverted heartline roll, all at over 60mph. Tigris will race riders along more than 1,800 feet of steel track, mimicking the agility of the world’s largest and most powerful cat, the tiger. Meanwhile American Humane, the world’s largest certifier of animal welfare and well-being, announced that Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has earned the Humane Certified seal through the American Humane Conservation programme, demonstrating the good welfare and treatment given to the creatures in its care. The park passed rigorous, expert third-party audits to join just 20 institutions in the US in earning the certification. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay offers 300 acres of attractions based on exotic explorations around the world Hall 3.1 / Stand 305 This year sees the arrival of what is being billed as the largest indoor activity centre in Europe as the Skypark Family Fun Centre opens in Tallinn, Estonia’s historic capital on the Baltic Sea. The brand new attraction will offer countless ways to keep young and old alike busy and entertained especially during the region’s long winter months. Highlights will include the largest trampoline park in Europe, while would-be mountaineers can enjoy dynamic climbing areas, some of them up to 10 metres high. Movie fans will find a stunning panoramic state-of-the-art 4D cinema offering an extraordinary immersive cinematic experience. There will also be an educational interactive science centre. One of the centrepieces of the fun centre will be the first roofmounted ferris wheel in Europe which will offer a magnificent view of Tallinn from 120 metres above sea level Hall 18 / Stand 127 Europa-Park introduces new water park and themed hotel Tidal Twister headlines Seaworld innovations Europa-Park, Germany’s largest theme park, is set in 95 ha on the border triangle between the Black Forest and the Vosges Mountains, offering over 100 attractions. A new water park, Rulantica, with 25 attractions including 13 roller-coasters, is under construction until the end of the year, and the park’s sixth themed hotel, Krønasår, opens its doors on 31 May. The water park centres on the mythical island of Rulantica and features 25 water attractions; the resort extension, with a 32,600 sq m indoor area as well as outdoor attractions, is the biggest project and largest single investment in the history of Europa-Park. Europa-Park also offers 23 hours a day of entertainment where more than 300 international artists present their skills on the park’s numerous stages. Krønasår – The Museum-Hotel, is Scandinavian in style and modeled on a natural history museum. The addition of Krønasår extends the number of beds at Europa-Park to 5,800 Hall 6.2b / Stand 201 SeaWorld San Diego guests will soon feel the power of the ocean, with the launch of the park’s Tidal Twister roller coaster scheduled for May 2019. This duelling coaster is a unique and horizontal ride that is an exhilarating experience for visitors. Accelerating to 30 miles per hour, riders will twist and bank as if riding the tide along a tight, figure-8 track. Also coming in Spring 2019 is Sesame Street at SeaWorld Orlando, a new attraction that brings the famous street to park guests, connecting them to the fun, laugher and learning of Sesame Street. In other news, Discovery Cove, in conjunction with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards, has completed staff-wide autism sensitivity and awareness training as well as an onsite review of the park and guest experience.
