in a news nutshell

in a news nutshell zurück zum Inhalt Halo Award for Klimt’s Magic Garden VR Days Europe 2018, which ran from 24 to 26 October in Amsterdam, attracted nearly 1,800 registered attendees. The continent’s leading conference and exhibition celebrating virtual, augmented and mixed reality (XR) business innovation and creativity is produced in collaboration with Integrated Systems Events, the organisers of the Integrated Systems Europe exhibition. As part of the VR Days Europe the Halo Awards, which recognise outstanding creative and innovative work in AV, VR and mixed reality projects, took place on October 25. Entries were judged by a specialised jury of industry experts, who awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze Halos in six categories: Cinematic, Gaming, Location- Based, Non-fiction, Creative Accomplishment, and Applied. “Klimt‘s Magic Garden”, a project realised in cooperation with Frederick Baker (Filmbäckerei) and Christian Leiss GmbH, was awarded silver in the cinematic category. On the centenary of the death of Gustav Klimt (1862–1918), the MAK Vienna, the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art, was focusing with a special exhibition from February until October 2018 on the artist’s designs for the mosaic frieze — a highlight of its collection — in the dining room of the Stoclet House in Brussels: “Klimt‘s Magic Garden” is a virtual reality experiment, inspired by Klimt’s masterpieces Expectation and Fulfillment. The virtual reality artist and filmmaker Frederick Baker has used high-resolution digital photographic material to create a fantastic virtual world in which visitors can embark on an interactive filmic journey. Baker‘s idea was to make the frieze virtually accessible and to create his own virtual world with motifs and elements of the frieze. Christian Leiss and his 3D Graphic Artist Markus Cermak have put these ideas into practice, and thus a very special and unique experience in art mediation was created. Equipped with 3D glasses and an operating stick, visitors find themselves first in front of the frieze like in front of a wall and can view it in detail. As they approach, the frieze opens and reveals a truly fantastic world where visitors can move freely: Klimt‘s Magic Garden. The five-minute journey through Klimt‘s Magic Garden not only makes the paradisiac scenes of this work accessible to a broad audience but also demonstrates what can be realized with virtual reality beyond gaming or science. © Leiss Production MOZART Divertimento K 563 & Horn Quintet K 407 For their debut recording, the Kreisler Trio Wien, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2017, have chosen Mozart‘s monumental and much-loved Divertimento in E-flat major, and - together with the Vienna Philharmonic‘s principal hornist Wolfgang Vladar - the horn quintet. Performances at Jeunesse Austria as well as in Vienna, Paris, Warsaw, Budapest, Sofia, Salzburg, Graz, Linz and St. Pölten are scheduled for 2019. https://kreislertriowien + + + + + STRYME and Brainstorm announce strategic partnership STRYME, the Vienna based video server manufacturer expert, announced a strategic partnership with Brainstorm, the industry-leading real-time 3D graphics specialist. Andrea Molinaro, CEO and founder of Riffer Music, explains: “Our innovative artist booking service is a new platform for musicians and event organizers, a real Airbnb of Music. It will be launched in 2019 and is going to simplify and revolutionize the way artists are booked. No longer do promoters or bands or artists have to go through so much stress to organize an event as we offer additional exciting features on our platform.” According to the figure, these services include: fast booking and transaction service, search by location or music genre, secure and trusted payment system, free streaming video services on social media channels during an event, the opportunity for fans to share their musical experiences or even payments of royalty fees through Soundreef. Due to partnerships with hostels around the world Riffer will also be able to provide travelling musicians with discounts or even with a free night. To finance the platform, Riffer has launched a crowdfunding campaign that will run until the end of December 2018. MEDIA BIZ
