The Wood County Historical Society is seeking dynamic volunteers to act as portrayers at the 2018 “Best of Living History Day” at the Wood County Fair on Thursday, August 2 at 4PM. Each portrayal is under 10 minutes, and scripts will be provided. Honorees selected to fit our theme of “Leisure Time of the 1920s & 30s” include, but are not limited to: Harvey & Blanche Zeigler – owners of Harvey’s Restaurant Rebecca Wells Ross – Ross Hotel in Bowling Green Homer Frank – operated a gas station and auto dealership as Wood County began the trend of leisurely driving Carroll Frank – a key force in local 4-H and the Wood County Fair Ernest Nietzke – played professional baseball for the Boston Red Socks in the early 20s Nellie Brown Powell Holdgraf – Toured the vaudeville circuit with husband “Doc” Powell Frederick & Grace Uhlman – Owners of the Uhlman Department Stores. You will also receive a free pass to the Fair to be used on the day of your performance. Please contact Michael McMaster, Education Programs Coordinator, to sign up for this opportunity.
