A current parent perspective on the UK's top schools

INSIDE SCOOP Forres Sandle Manor Fordingbridge, Hampshire, SP6 1NS Admissions: 01425 653181 • Day/Full 3-13 SW The Inside Scoop from a current parent… Being a military family, constantly on the move every two-three years, we needed a boarding school that not only provided an outstanding curriculum, but a homely atmosphere and the very best pastoral care. With a boy and two girls we decided upon a co-ed school so our children would have shared memories and be together. Despite each child having very different personalities and interests, they have all flourished, remained grounded, and gone from strength to strength at FSM. Although a couple have now moved on to senior school they still speak glowingly of their time here. Ultimately FSM has done its job; created happy children who are ready for their lives to come. As parents, we love: The work ethos that has been instilled within our children. Seeing how the teachers inspire our children, and are remembered years after. From a pastoral perspective it has gone from strength to strength. Our children love: The different activities that are on offer every single night. The food. The full English breakfasts and ice cream birthday cakes are legendary. Amazing friends who all muck in together. It really does feel like a home away from home. HEADS UP “By placing our pupils individual needs and wellbeing at the centre of their learning, they leave us confident and capable young people, ready for their next steps.” Jody Wells, Headmaster Open days: Call the school office for a friendly conversation or email via our website. 40 Read the full review on ★ 2019

INSIDE SCOOP Gordonstoun School Elgin, Moray, IV30 5RF Admissions: 01343 837829 • Day/Full 4.5-18 S|W As parents, we love: The breadth of opportunities available to every student and the way that these experiences inform how they work in the classroom. The nurturing environment in which they live. The eclectic nature of the student body. Dynamic, diverse and international. The Inside Scoop from a current parent… I loved the location of Gordonstoun, the chance for my children to grow up in a such a beautiful environment and so close to the sea was too much to resist! The range of activities in and out of school and in the local community is amazing. My daughters have benefitted from these and they have much more of a sense of what they are capable of now. They have competed in numerous different sports, they have taken the stage and they have both held positions of responsibility and all in a nurturing and good humoured environment. This has undoubtedly led to their successes in the classroom, which have been consistent. They do well because they understand that they can. Our children love: The co-ed system and their friends. The Saturday night socials which may be a dance, a trip to the cinema or even a barbecue at the beach. Being members of a boarding house and being part of a larger family of peers. HEADS UP “As well as preparing students for exams, Gordonstoun prepares them for life. The school’s uniquely broad curriculum helps every child to achieve their full potential.“ Lisa Kerr, Principal and Titus Edge, Headmaster Open days: Please contact the school for more information. 2019 ★ Read the full review on 41
