A current parent perspective on the UK's top schools

INSIDE SCOOP Kent College Canterbury Whitstable Road, Canterbury, Kent, CT2 9DT Admissions: 01227 763231 • SE Day/Full 1-18 The Inside Scoop from a current parent… I strongly believe that the school’s ethos both at senior and junior level has instilled confidence and resilience in the children. They have been encouraged to participate in a huge range of extra curricular activities both in and out of school time. This includes regular performances on stage to parents and others and builds confidence and self esteem. Regular workshops are arranged for children and parents to broaden their education beyond the “standard” academic work. For prospective parents I would say that what you don’t realise when reading the prospectus is how much of a community the school feels like and that being part of the strong community gives them a sense of belonging and confidence that is hard to quantify! Open days: Please contact admissions. As parents, we love: Multiple opportunities in music, drama, sport, the arts as well as events to stretch the more able children e.g in STEM. A strong caring approach and good pastoral care as well as the ability to liaise directly with staff. The sense of community and belonging for children and their families. Our children love: The grounds and facilities. Extra opportunities, trips and talks. Knowing lots of people in all year groups. HEADS UP “We are deeply rooted in the Christian Methodist tradition welcoming pupils of every faith and none. We celebrate diversity in all aspects of our school life. ‘Do all the good you can do’ is a guiding principle that allows pupils to develop into confident young adults.” Dr David Lamper, Headmaster 50 Read the full review on ★ 2019

INSIDE SCOOP Kingham Hill School Kingham, Chipping Norton, OX7 6TH Admissions: 01608 731884 • Day/Weekly/Full 11-18 SE The Inside Scoop from a current parent… We chose Kingham Hill School because we knew it would suit our daughter perfectly. The beautiful outside space, the wonderful opportunities available both academically and extra-curricular, the sport, music and arts on offer and most importantly the way that Mr Seward and the teachers spoke so passionately about the school and what they do; this all shone through. It was clear very quickly at the open morning that their love of learning was contagious and our daughter was not only going to have a wonderful time at Kingham but also be given the opportunity to excel and be encouraged to be ‘intellectually curious’. To top it off, we were impressed by the academic results too. As parents, we love: The teachers are all smart, intellectual, caring and clearly love what they do. Fantastic role models. Excellent learning environment. Nothing beats driving into school and thinking this is the best possible place for my daughter to spend her day. Variety and magnitude of opportunities, both curricular and extra-curricular. Our children love: My tutor, teachers and house parents are friendly, helpful and they make me laugh lots. So many different sports. Activities like ski trips, house socials, going out to dinner, trampolining and hanging out with friends. HEADS UP “I am personally committed to the Christian ethos of Kingham Hill, and I feel very privileged to lead a school with such a rich past and exciting future. We pride ourselves on our commitment to the individual. Every pupil is valued and encouraged to develop their own character to the full.” Nick Seward, Headmaster Open days: 15th June, 5th October 2019. 2019 ★ Read the full review on 51
