A current parent perspective on the UK's top schools

INSIDE SCOOP Tring Park School Mansion Drive, Tring, Hertfordshire, HP23 5LX Admissions: 01442 821676 • GL Day/Full 8-19 The Inside Scoop from a current parent… With small class sizes, vocationally and academically, the school has a superb track record of nurturing talented young people to excel. Attending an Open Day is a must as you observe the children immersed in their daily routine and can truly see and ‘feel’ that this is a happy place. True of many of the students, my son is developing into a well-rounded, grounded young adult. The students are polite, humble, and passionate about their school and at ease chatting to adults. Make no mistake the children here have to be tough and focused, it is a long school day demanding a dedication and desire for excellence, but all I see is a highly motivated, intellectually curious, tenacious, resilient and above all else, happy child. As parents, we love: Teachers who inspire, engage, enable and empower – every single day. The diverse, vibrant community created by students with a broad range of vocational interests and talents. The strong sense of belonging and pride in their school demonstrated by the students. Our children love: The inspirational teachers – both vocational and academic. The freedom to be themselves and to dream big amongst like-minded peers. Being able to dance - every single day! HEADS UP “Tring Park School offers an exceptional opportunity to young people who show an outstanding talent for the performing arts, while recognising the benefits of a fine academic education. Tring Park inspires excellence, creativity and resilience in a nurturing community.” Stefan Anderson, Headmaster Open days: 4th, 10th, 11th October 2019. 84 Read the full review on ★ 2019

INSIDE SCOOP Twyford School Twyford School, Twyford, Winchester, SO21 1NW Admissions: 01962 712269 • SW Day/Flexi 3-13 The Inside Scoop from a current parent… We chose the school because of it’s fantastic reputation, the many lovely children we know there, and the fact it’s co-ed. All of the teachers are warm, friendly and experienced and we were hugely impressed by the beautiful expansive grounds and pitches. My kids are fully encouraged and involved in everything from art exhibitions to the Year 6 and 7 musical to the many sports matches. Kindness, one of the school’s core values, is seen in pretty much all areas of the school’s day to day life. The parent community is very friendly, inclusive and local. On top of all this, the second-hand shop is absolutely brilliant – a genuine one stop shop! As parents, we love: The matrons and pastoral care: always there for the children (and the parents too!) The food. Fresh, great choice and delicious. My cooking is never as good as theirs! The knowledge and confidence instilled in them to take to their senior schools and beyond. Our children love: The School’s own game Court Cricket. The food – particularly Bird Seed on a Wednesday lunch! The TPA Summer extravaganza, if you’re really lucky, you get to dunk the Headmaster or Bursar in the tank! HEADS UP “At Twyford, we invest all our energies into helping each individual child learn in a secure and nurturing environment. Here they can confidently thrive, become resilient and self-sufficient and able to respond positively to challenge and adapt.” Dr Steve Bailey, Headmaster Open days: May 10th 2019. 2019 ★ Read the full review on 85
