In Tromsø I met Pinga, who would travel through the Arctic with me. Norway’s Arctic University has exhibits about the explorers Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen. In the beautiful local Botanic Garden there are examples of Arctic and Antarctic plants. I studied a Saxifraga in great detail through a field microscope. 6
