CHOCOLATE Chocolate actually grows on trees! It comes from the cacao plant, native to Latin America. Hernán Cortés brought it from Mexico to Europe in the 16th century. Nowadays much of the world’s chocolate is grown in West Africa. We can’t eat chocolate as it is poisonous to dogs. 8
