POTATOES Potatoes come from the Andes mountains in Peru. Hernán Cortés & Christopher Columbus, explorers for the Spanish throne, brought them to Europe. Tomatoes were also brought from Latin America by Spanish priests. A tomato is actually a fruit, that is, the part of the plant that has flowers and seeds. 14
