MANFREDI’S ITALIAN RESTAURANT | DECK 1 KJELL TORRISET 1950 X NORWAY X OIL ON CANVAS Kjell Torriset is a Norwegian painter and graphic artist educated in London, residing in England. He is known to alternate between figurative and nonfigurative expression in his work, often producing large formats and using powerful colors. In the 1990s, he began creating remarkable works assembled from many small elements, including a monumental piece consisting of 836 painted tiles for the new University of Oslo Library. He also presented a retrospective exhibition at the Astrup Fearnley Museum in 1999. Nine of his paintings are housed at the National Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art in Oslo. 72
