I SNEAK PEEK I Franc de Pied 2021 vintage through the four seasons Family owned boutique vineyard presents rare oldworld clone of Pinot Noir Three Feathers Estate & Vineyard produces handcrafted 100% Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris wines made only with estate-grown grapes. The family run business, located in the the Chehalem Mountains of Oregon, is known throughout the famous Willamette Valley for producing exceptional Pinot Noir. Comprised of hills between 200 and 300 meters above sea level, the terrain forms a natural heat sink. Sheltered from the winds, it captures the summer heat specific to its microclimate with temperatures seven to 10 degrees cooler than in the valley. Three Feathers hailed Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris 2023 as an exciting opportunity for it to present its Pinot wines. "Of special mention is our Three Feathers Pinot Madeleine – a rare, old-word clone of Pinot Noir known as Pinot Noir Précoce, Pinot Madeleine & Frühburgunder," says the winery. This particular grape has smaller berries and ripens a full three weeks earlier than standard Pinot Noir. Concentrated flavours and elegant aromatics define the winery's first and second vintages. The company will also present its bestselling Three Feathers Pinot Gris 2021 at the show. "This second vintage concluded a dry summer season with occasional bursts of heat," the company comments. "Yields were high and the maturity was perfect to produce a fruity full-bodied wine, exceptional for Pinot Gris. Picked at its peak and pressed right out of the field, our 2021 Pinot Gris was then aged in stainless steel to preserve and express fruit flavours and a light juicy acidity" Hall 5.2 / Stand D-077 Dedicated to expressing its terroir and dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, Château Dauzac is showcasing its beautifully complex Franc de Pied 2021 vintage, a great wine for ageing. "One vintage follows another but no two are alike," Château Dauzac explains. "The 2021 vintage called for a lot of patience and commitment." The winery runs us through the journey behind the vintage which it is presenting at Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris 2023. Winter: The vintage started with an especially mild and rainy winter. The bud break was uniform and occurred early, but the extra-cold and rainy spring meant that this head start was soon lost. Spring: During the spell of frost in April, Château Dauzac’s vineyards were protected due to their proximity to the Gironde estuary, which acts as a natural thermal regulator. Flowering began around May 25 in ideally warm and dry weather. Summer: June was especially rainy, with approximately 127% more rain than average. At times, the rain had an impact on flowering, with traces of coulure, also know as shatter, and millerandage. The cold and damp summer called for watchfulness at all times. Autumn: Veraison was delayed due to the loss of 20% in our earliestripening Merlot plots Discover Slovenian wine which respects the land and local community Klet Brda winery offers some of the best cuvées in the business, sustainably produced for nature, people and long-term success. Last year the company collaborated with selected winegrowers and partners on a pilot project. The team is testing a solution to enable winegrowers to remotely monitor the status of pests in their vineyards, giving predictions of their movements 14 days in advance. This would allow them to take timely precautions and protect and ended October 13th with our grand Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, which managed to take advantage of the sunny days after the rainy spell in early October. Plot-byplot selection and meticulous sorting of the grapes harvested allowed for highquality winemaking. The Result: The mature balances are reminiscent of the past century’s great vintages: aromas of crisp fruit, lots of subtlety and great length on the palate.
