Dear friends of Garezers,
The summer is almost here! The camp programs are filling up – the GVV program will have over 100
students again this year. A reminder that you can still register your kids for the Sports Camp (August 5-9)
without any late fee. We are looking forward to seeing all the kids’ smiling faces again!
We have a good calendar of events planned for this summer. This year at Jāņi we won’t have a concert
or formal performance, but instead will all celebrate together at Dzintari and the beach. During camp
registration weekend (June 28-29) we will be honored to host the Latvian Embassy’s mobile passport
station. Then over the July 4th long weekend we will have a kids’ carneval. Next, during the July 26-29
weekend we will present the GVV Talent Show, Museum Night and other interesting events. More
information is available in this issue of GZ as well as on our website.
I would like once again to introduce our new staff: Guntars Rusmanis (Facilities), Laila Svalbe (GSS
director), Krista Cickovskis and Ieva Zemite (Bizbiz camp directors), as well as our new Board member
Markus Apelis and new Auditing committee member (and former Garezers Exec. Director) Peteris
Burgelis. We are also continuing to expand our cooperation with Atbalsis. Reservations for Atbalsis
accomodations are now handled through the Garezers office, and Eriks Arums will be managing the
Atbalsis facilities. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with all of them this year.
