We renovated these ourselves without the need for tradesmen coming into the house. We ripped out the oversized Victorian fireplace in the living room as it felt too wide for the room and it wasn’t an original feature. We also stripped metre-deep wardrobes out of Esme’s room and, because we couldn’t get hold of materials to replaster the walls, we filled and sanded them by hand.
