I read with great interest the views of Fergus Bisset and Jeremy Ellwood regarding whether 35-under-par is good for the game or not [March issue debate, page 20]. It got me thinking about the changes that have occurred during my many years playing golf. I remember starting out at Barrow Golf Club, where the 4th was 475 yards long, exactly the cut-off mark to make it a par 5. I wonder what the pros would make of that?
