Man sues OpenAI after ChatGPT claims he killed his sons

A Norwegian man has filed a legal complaint against ChatGPT’s owners OpenAI after the AI chatbot falsely said he had murdered his children. Arve Holmen was given the false information in August 2024 after he asked ChatGPT ‘Who is Arve Hjalmar Holmen?’. In its response (pictured) it claimed he had “gained attention due to a tragic event”. It added: “He was the father of two young boys, aged 7 and 10, who were tragically found dead in a pond near their home in Trondheim, Norway, in December 2020.”...
