TOTAL REPLACEMENT This is the most common, where the hip joint ball (top end of thigh bone) and the socket (cup shape in the pelvis) are replaced. PARTIAL REPLACEMENT The ball is replaced, leaving the socket in place. Usually, recovery is faster, but it may not last as long. Offered if you’re in poor health or frail.
