LEARNING OBJECTIVESIn this session we will:1) Outline an example of best practice for the medicationmanagement process.2) Describe process improvement assumptions andrequired supporting technology requirements.3) Describe how to identify and select Key PerformanceIndicators (KPIs) that align with organizational strategicinitiatives.4) Describe the methodology used tomeasure improvements in medicationmanagement process.n this session, we will provide an example of a best practice for themedication management process. The workflow will be discussed at the“policy” and activity level and reflects the processes in place at WFUBMC.We will describe the process changes that were implemented and thetechnology used to support the medication management process.Before presenting that process we will describe an approach to identify andselect key performance indicators that align with organizational strategicinitiatives and can demonstrate, after measurement, that those initiatives havebeen advanced.Finally, we will discuss the methodology used to measure, pre and postimplementation, the slected KPIs. Gains made in the KPI values demonstrateprocess improvements and thereby, the advancement of your strategies andinitiatives.2
