PREFACE
The present study gives a general survey of conditions which influence
pregnancies and births among Norwegian women. Data are taken
from the Fertility Survey 1977, which was the first national-wide sample
survey of fertility in Norway. The survey has been published in Fertility
Survey 1977 (NOS B 197, 1981).
In this publication, we present results covering the main topics
of the survey, but the analysis are not very extensive. There are plans
for more in depth analysis to be carried out later.
The publication has been written in close co-operation between
the authors. Turid Noack has written chapters 2, 5 and 9, while chapters
3, 4, 6, 7 and 8 are written by Lars Ostby.
The Norwegian Research Council for Science and the Humanities has
contributed to the financing of the present work.
