DO PRESIDENTE
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Combinar competitividade, responsabilidade social e sustentabilidade
ambiental é o principal desafio das grandes corporações na atualidade. Fazer
frente à concorrência é fundamental para assegurar a sobrevivência, mas o
crescimento da consciência do cidadão-consumidor exige que as empresas
tenham compromissos com avanços sociais e com o uso sustentável dos
recursos naturais. Esta é a fórmula que a C.Vale segue, pois entendemos que
é o passaporte para um mundo mais próspero.
Combining competitiveness, social accountability and environmental
sustainability is the main challenge of large corporations currently. Facing
competition is Paramount to ensure survival, but the growing conscience
of citizens/consumers requires companies to be committed with social
advances and with the sustainable utilization of natural resources. This is

AREA OF ACTIVITIES
A C.Vale possui 149 unidades de negócio
no Paraná, Santa Catarina, Mato Grosso,
Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul e
no Paraguai. As atividades envolvem a
produção de soja, milho, trigo, leite, frango,
peixe, suíno, mandioca e rações. Para os
associados a C.Vale oferece assistência
técnica, crédito agrícola, insumos
agropecuários, sementes de soja e da
venda de máquinas e peças agrícolas. A
cooperativa possui uma rede formada por
sete supermercados e um hipermercado.

C.Vale has 149 business units in the states
of Paraná, Santa Catarina, Mato Grosso,
Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul
and also in Paraguay. Its activities involve
the production of soy, corn, wheat, milk,
poultry, fish, pork, manioc and animal
feeding. For associates, C.Vale provides
technical support, agricultural loans,
agricultural and livestock inputs, soy seeds
and sale of agricultural machinery and
parts. The Cooperative has a network of
seven supermarkets and one hypermarket.

GOVERNANCE
A estrutura de gestão é formada por três diretores
executivos. As questões estratégicas são discutidas
com o Conselho de Administração, formado por seis
associados, e as contas são verificadas pelo Conselho
Fiscal, composto por seis integrantes, além de auditores
internos e externos. Comitês educativos, núcleos
femininos e jovens são instâncias de apoio que levam
sugestões e reivindicações à diretoria.
The management team comprises three executive
directors. The strategic issues are debated with the
Management Committee, formed by six associated
members. The accounts are vetted by the Fiscal
Committee, which includes six members, apart from
internal and external auditors. Educational Committees,
Females and Youth Bodies are supporting entities that
bring suggestions and claims to the board.

A produção de frangos, leite, suínos, peixes e
mandioca são alternativas que a C.Vale encontrou
para diversificar atividades e gerar renda. Essa
estratégia também melhora a rentabilidade da
cooperativa e gera milhares de empregos.

A cooperativa mantém um sistema de produção
avícola de ciclo completo, composto por fábricas de
rações, matrizeiros, incubatório, aviários de campo,
abatedouro e indústria de termoprocessados.
The cooperative sustains a full cycle poultry production

procedimentos ligados à avicultura. Esta ferramenta
permite identificar agroquímicos usados nas lavouras,
medicamentos e o manejo dos frangos. Granjas climatizadas

A traceability system ensures control of procedures
related to poultry production. Such tool allows identifying
agrochemicals used in harvests, medications and
chicken handling. Acclimatized farms guarantee the

produção de sementes de soja e amido modificado de
mandioca e outros sete certificados das normas ISO
9001, HACCP, BRC e Global G.A.P. para áreas do
complexo avícola da cooperativa. São garantias de
que o alimento que chega ao consumidor é saudável.
C.Vale holds an ISO 9001 certificate related to the
production of soy seeds and modified manioc starch,
and an additional seven certificates pertaining to
norms ISO 9001, HACCP, BRC and Global GAP – for
areas of the poultry complex. These are guarantees
that the food reaching consumers is healthy.

maior aproveitamento das rações. Com isso, a

Como parte de sua estratégia de estimular a
suinocultura, a C.Vale possui uma Unidade Produtora
de Leitões (UPL). Os associados fazem a engorda dos
animais e os enviam à Frimesa para a industrialização.

Três indústrias da C.Vale fornecem amido
modificado de mandioca para empresas
dos setores papeleiro e de alimentos.
As amidonarias foram construídas com
conceitos e tecnologias inovadores, como

entre áreas limpa e “suja”.

COMMUNITIES
Os efeitos econômicos e sociais da atuação da
C.Vale são expressivos. Em 2017, a cooperativa
arrecadou R$ 237 milhões em tributos para estados
e municípios. No caso da avicultura, o ICMS é dividido
conforme o percentual de produção de frangos de
cada município envolvido no sistema de integração. A
C.Vale também auxilia na manutenção de creches.
The economic and social impacts of C.Vale’s activities
are substantial. During 2017, the cooperative has paid
R$ 237 million in taxes to states and municipalities.
In the case of poultry, ICMS (Brazilian VAT) is split
according to the percentage of chicken production to
each city involved in the integration system. C. Vale
also helps in sustaining child care centers.

profissional na C.Vale. O programa Jovem Aprendiz
Cooperativo qualifica os jovens e os prepara a
enfrentar os primeiros desafios, atuando em áreas
administrativas. Para ter acesso ao programa,
precisam de bom rendimento escolar.

the opportunity of a Professional experience at
C.Vale. The Cooperative Apprenticeship program
qualifies youth and prepares them to face their first
challenges, acting in administrative areas. To access

Uma iniciativa que envolve escolas públicas e particulares permite
que estudantes recebam as primeiras noções sobre cooperativismo.
É o programa Cooperjovem, uma ação que começou há 19 anos e já
ensinou os benefícios da cooperação a mais de 26 mil alunos.
An initiative that involves public and private schools allows
students to get their first notions of cooperative activities. It is the
CooperYouth program, an action that started 19 years ago and
has already taught the benefits of cooperation to more than 26
thousand students.

abriu quase 1.300 novos postos de trabalho.

WORK SAFETY
A prevenção de acidentes de trabalho é uma
preocupação permanente da C.Vale. A Comissão
Interna de Prevenção de Acidentes tem 180
profissionais que são responsáveis por sugerir
mudanças e adaptações para tornar o ambiente de
trabalho mais seguro. Além disso, os funcionários
recebem orientações sobre uso de equipamentos de
proteção, combate a incêndios e outros acidentes.
Prevention of working accidents is a permanent
concern for C.Vale. The Internal Committee for
Prevention of Accidents includes 180 professionals
who are responsible for suggesting changes and
adjustments to make the workplace safer. Apart
from that, employees are guided on the use of
Personal Protection Equipment, firefighting and
other accidents.

WATER
O Programa de Utilização Racional da Água
(PURA) é uma iniciativa destinada a promover o
máximo de aproveitamento da água nas atividades
industriais da C.Vale. Também envolve o tratamento
de efluentes para assegurar a devolução da água à
natureza de acordo com os padrões exigidos pela
legislação ambiental.
Os associados são estimulados a recuperar e a
conservar nascentes para garantir água de boa
qualidade para as futuras gerações.
The Rational Water Use Program (PURA) is an
initiative driven to promote maximum yield of water
in C.Vale’s industrial activities. It also involves the
treatment of effluents to assure the return of water
to nature in accordance with standards set by the
environmental legislation.
The associates are encouraged to recover and
conserve springs, to ensure the good quality of the
water to future generations.

RIPARIAN FORESTS
A necessidade do uso racional dos recursos naturais
levou a C.Vale a fornecer mudas e assistência técnica
aos associados para estimular a recuperação de matas
ciliares e a conservação de nascentes. Ao mesmo tempo,
uma área de 1.500 hectares de reflorestamento fornece
lenha para abastecer caldeiras das indústrias e secadores
nas unidades de recebimento de grãos da cooperativa.
Os produtores de frango também utilizam lenha de
reflorestamento para aquecer os aviários.
The need for rational use of natural resources caused
C.Vale to provide seedlings and technical support to its
associates, in order to encourage the recovery of riparian
forests and the conservation of water springs. At the
same time, an area of 1,500 hectares of reforestation
supplies firewood for use in boilers at the industries and
driers in the grain receiving units of the cooperative. The
chicken producers also use reforestation firewood to
heat up aviaries.

GATHERING OF PACKAGES
Recipientes de agrotóxicos são destinados a
unidades de recolhimento e reciclagem pelos
associados. Depois de fazerem a tríplice lavagem, os
produtores entregam as embalagens em pontos de
coleta previamente definidos. Em 2017, produtores
de 26 municípios recolheram 930 toneladas de
embalagens de defensivos.

recycling units by the associates. After performing
the triple washing, producers deliver the packages
at previously determined gathering points. During
2017, producers from 26 cities gathered 930 tones of
pesticide packages.

Para evitar desperdícios e controlar a
geração de resíduos, a C.Vale utiliza
o programa 3R’s (Reduzir, Reutilizar e
Reciclar). Uma central de reciclagem
no abatedouro de frangos permite
a separação de plástico e papelão.
Com esses cuidados, menos de 1%
das matérias-primas descartadas são
enviadas a aterros ou a tratamento
especializado.
In order to prevent waste and to control
generation of residues, C.Vale uses
the 3Rs program (Reduce, Reuse and
Recycle). A recycling center at the chicken
slaughter house allows separating plastic
and carton. With such care, less than 1%
of disposed raw materials are sent to

instalações capazes de reduzir em 70% o consumo
