Perimetral School, which is a very wellknown school. Close to it is the AMA. And our tour ends here. A Tiring and Exciting Walk On this walk we will go from AMA to Crescer Sempre. People should try to notice the Paraisópolis Ballet wall, the view of the slope and the wall of Forró da Juliana. On the way to the slope there’s a little hole that sometimes is filled with rainwater. We will hear cars, motorcycles, maybe kids and bus sounds. We will smell the sewage, the bakery, the smoke and the cars. It will be a tiring and exciting tour. A Walk in Two Parks The walk starts at Paraisópolis Municipal Park. We will notice it is a very good place to relax and meet friends. On the other side of the street we will see the AMA Hospital. After AMA, people will go to another park called Praça da Cidadania (Citizenship Square). In the park, people of all ages can use the playground and then, everybody will go to Damião Bakery, a good place to buy food. A Walk with a Good Reward This is a short walk from Cultura Inglesa to Damião. It’s an exhausting walk as you have to climb a lot of stairs and hills. In the end you will have a good reward: sweets and savoury goods. You’ll notice many potholes, narrow streets and busy streets. You’ll visit many stores and you’ll listen to people talking, car engines and animal noises. A Cool Walk This is a short walk of about 9 minutes from Einstein to Palmeirinha. You’ll see many restaurants, one Casas Bahia, mini shopping malls, Rua da Feira, many cars all the time, supermarkets, stores and Paulo Freire School in front of Palmeirinha. Watch for the music, bicycles and many elderly people. Be careful of the cars and motorcycles getting in your way. This walk will be very cool because of the kids you can play with. A Walk With Many Cats Leaving the AMA, go up through the big stairs (“escadão”). On the way, there is a tattoo parlour and a house full of plants. There are also buildings on the way that have lots of cats walking around. At the end of the stairs, there is a snack 22
shop and in front of it, there is a bakery. Next to the bakery is the entrance to the Palmeirinhas. All along the way you will smell plants and food. A Downhill Walk Start at Club Life. Going down the street you’ll see a lane downhill. Continue walking forward until you smell very delicious food. Then, if you look to your left, you’ll see Malokero Burger. But take care while crossing the street. The motorcycles are crazy. Walk to Cultura Inglesa To go from Club life to Cultura Inglesa, you need to walk down and turn right. In this part, you can see pet shops, car wash, some markets. You cannot walk on the sidewalk because it’s too small and there is a lot of trash on it. Go down the road until you see a big stair. Go downstairs, pass the soccer court and turn left. There is a school there, so, during some hours there are a lot of students and it’s not cool at all. Then, walk forward and soon you can see Cultura Inglesa in the other side of the street. Cross the road and you are there. 23
