The book of Paraisópolis

In Riga and Paraisópolis there are lots
of people who have the same names.
In Riga there are old grandmas who
wander around collecting sticks and
in Paraisópolis we also have weird
neighbours like the cook who opens the
pressure pan outside her house while
cursing.
THE BOOK

There are less flowers in Paraisópolis and
no rivers, no chimneys or surveillance
cameras. We don’t have wooden houses
and there are no famous people living on
our streets. People don’t usually have pets
in their homes, but they feed the stray
ones. In Paraisópolis there not many
bikes, no snow and no forests.

In Riga the sky is very colourful in
the mornings but in Paraisópolis it is
the nights that are very beautiful and
colourful.
Like Paraisópolis, Riga is a city with lots
of small houses and tiny shops. Some
houses are painted and there is graffiti
on the walls. Like in Riga’s street we see
people walking with their dogs and people
who smoke. There are parks in Riga and
also in Paraisópolis. There are churches
and cockroaches and sometimes you hear
gunshots in both places.
