ABSTRACT

According to the final report of FP-FUNDETEC project in December 2007, in undertaking implementation of the

specific European directives, the water research market is facing a delay up to 10 years in transferring the results

to practicians.

This time lag might be reduced to 3-5 years by adding an intermediate step in transferring technology between

Research-Innovation and SMEs , through exploration, assessment and pro-active promotion of research results.

The “Water Research to Market” project aims to develop a methodology that will facilitate this transfer of

knowledge, relying on case studies of the research projects which can improve the European market of water

sector.

As a partner in this project, the Romanian Water Association- through the Water Training Center (C.F.P.P.D.A.) is

involve in activities which bring together researchers and practicians from the European sector of water in order

to achieve a better implementation of the specific European directives.

“Water Research to Market - to speed up the transfer of

a directivelor europene privind apa.

Proiectul “Water Research to Market“ are o durată de

trei ani şi este co-finanţat de Comisia Europeană prin Programul

LIFE+ -Environment & Eco-Innovation ce reuneşte

patru parteneri europeni: International Office for water

(OIEau), coordonator - FR, Amphos 21 - ES, GdanskWater

Foundation - POL şi Asociaţiei Române a Apei – RO prin

C.F.P.P.D.A..

“Water Research to Market- to speed up the transfer of water

related research outputs” is an European project which aims

to make a contribution to forwarding the transfer of water

related research results towards end-users – river basin

authorities, local authorities, water users (agriculture,

industry), technology providers, consultants, public or

private operators – for a better implementation of the

European directives regarding water.

“Water Research to Market” Project lasts for three years and

is co-funded by the European Commission through Life+-

Environment & Eco- Innovation Program and gather four

European partners: International Office for Water (OIEau),

coord.-FR, Amphos 21- ES, Gdansk Water Foundation – POL,

and Romanian Water Association – RO, through C.F.P.P.D.A.

On a European water market in which utilities/specialists

concentrate on their objectives and financial welfare,

having weak connections with research, and where, very

often, research results are not ready to be implemented

(the patent issue, intellectual property rights), the addition

of an intermediate step in technology transfer between

SMEs and Research through exploration, assessment and

pro-active promotion of research results can contribute to

a better implementation of European directives.

Initiated at the end of 2010, ”Water Research to Market”

started by identifying research projects in the water field,

both at European and national levels (those funded
