Viața de familie și problema adulterului a reprezentat pentru mulți scriitori o sursă de inspirație. Lev Tolstoi, tată a 13 

copii, cu o soție cu șaisprezece ani mai tânără ca el, scrie nuvela „Sonata Kreutzer” la o vârstă înaintată, după ce scrisese 

marile capodopere „Anna Karenina” și „Război și pace”. „Sonata Kreutzer” este o poveste despre gelozie, dar mai ales 

despre condiția femeii, despre limitările su etești pe care le impune o viață casnică. Firele invizibile ale muzicii înnoadă 

între Natalia și Trukacevski ghemul de foc al atracției sexuale. Poznicev, mânat de a primitivă gelozie, va pune capăt 

proaspătului adulter. În această variantă de text, adaptat pentru scenă, este vorba și despre relația dintre autorpersonaj. 

Tolstoi este prezent și conduce desfășurarea acțiunii. Autorul își înnebunește personajul, personajul creat îl 

înnebunește pe autor. Simbioza dintre victimă și călău este o constantă a geloziei, dar și a creației.

The family life and the adultery problem were a source of inspiration for many writers. Leo Tolstoy, the father of 13 

children, with a wife 16 years younger than him, writes the Kreutzer Sonata at an old age, after creating the great 

masterpieces, `Anna Karenina` and `War and Peace`. `Kreutzer Sonata` is a story about jealousy, but it is especially 

about the woman’s condition, and the spiritual limitations imposed by a domestic life. The invisible threads of music 

wraps the reball of sexual attraction between Natalia and Troukhatchevsky. Pozdnyshev, being driven by primitive 

jealousy, will end the fresh adultery. In this version of the text, which is adapted for the stage, it is also about the authorcharacter 

relationship. Tolstoy is present and leads the action. The author drives his character crazy, the created 

character makes the author mad. The symbiosis between the victim and the executioner is a constant of jealousy, but 

also of creation.

FAMILIA LEAR / FAMILY LEAR DE / BY WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE 

Regele Lear dorește să le lase moștenire celor trei ice ale sale tronul și să trăiască restul vieții în grija lor. Lear le cere 

acestora să-i spună cât de mult îl iubesc, ca să împartă regatul în trei părți egale pentru ecare copil. Celor două ice 

care și-au piperat confesiunea cu exagerări, le-au fost dăruite părți ale regatului. Însă Cordelia, cea mai tânără, care a 

considerat că nu-i nimic de spus, căci dragostea sa pentru tatăl ei era ceva atât de evident, este alungată. Apoi cele două 

ice care au exagerat încep să se întoarcă împotriva lui Lear, care devine, cu ecare zi, din ce în ce mai slăbit. În fața 

morții, Lear își amintește greșelile din trecut. 

Fondată în 1999, Compania de Teatru Gabyun și-a sărbătorit cea de-a 20-a aniversare în 2018, ca instituție 

profesionistă de teatru. Gabyun luptă să descopere un nou limbaj teatral, începând prin modernizarea spectacolelor 

clasice și prin crearea de piese coreene originale, precum Hyehwa-dong Nr.1, cea de-a treia companie de teatru a unui 

cerc literar de la începutul anului 2000. În 2010, Gabyun a produs spectacole pentru a dezvolta un nou limbaj teatral, 

bazat pe îmbinarea mutuală a artei cu tendințele populare. 

Lear wishes to entrust civil affairs and regal powers to his 

three daughters, and to live the rest of his life in their support. 

Lear requests his three daughters a verbal con rmation of 

their love for him, to divide the kingdom in three equal 

sections for each of his children. Two daughters, who spiced 

their speech with exaggeration, were given their parts of the 

kingdom. Yet Cordelia, the youngest, who replied that there 

was nothing to be said, as her love for her father was 

something so obvious, gets banished. Afterwards the two 

daughters who replied in exaggeration begins to turn away 

from Lear, who starts to grow weaker and weaker day by day. 

Lear, in facing death, reminisces the past. 

Established in 1999, Theater Company Gabyun celebrated 

its 20th anniversar y in 2018 as an exper t theater 

organization. Gabyun strived to discover a new theaterical 

language, star ting with modernizing the classic 

performances and creating Korean original plays, as Hyehwadong 

No.1's third theater company of a literary coterie at the 

beginning of 2000s. In 2010s, Gabyun has been producing 

performances to develop a new type of theatrical language 

based on the mutual fusion of artistry and popular appeals.

Lumea lui Othello prinde viață prin viziunea regizorului armean Suren Shahverdyan care, prin montarea sa, 

înfățișează „cum invidia și gelozia îl pot distruge pe om, cum, atunci când dragostea se transformă în ură, tristețea 

întunecă mintea și su etul, care scăpate de sub control, conduc spre un nal tragic al inței.” Drama 

shakesperiană ni-l prezintă pe Othello, o legendă vie, un om nobil, viteaz și mereu victorios. Acest erou se 

întoarce din bătălie pentru a înfrunta cea mai di cilă provocare: Iago, stegarul său, are un plan machiavelic de 

a-i distruge viața, cunoscându-i punctul sensibil și anume dragostea pe care o poartă Desdemonei. „Pentru 

mine a fost mai important să înțeleg de ce oamenii, în lumea asta, se pot transforma într-un Iago, distrugând totul 

în jurul lor. Nici Iago nu s-a născut așa, dar minciuna l-a făcut să-și piardă încrederea în oameni.”, spune regizorul 

spectacolului, care a încercat să nu își împartă eroii în „buni sau răi, albi sau negri”, pentru ca ecare personaj să 

poată trezi compasiune. Pătrunzător, intens, sfâșietor, „Othello” explorează fără milă ecare parte a condiției 

umane, iar Shahverdyan spune că „Othello modern ne ajută să aruncăm o privire în interiorul nostru, să facem 

ordine în sentimentele noastre și să ne recunoaștem propriile neajunsuri. Noi toți ar trebui să ne gândim la 

păcatele noastre și să încercăm să nu murim pentru dragoste, ci să trăim pentru ea. Important este să nu ne 

pierdem încrederea în cei de lângă noi!”

The world of Othello is brought to life by the Armenian stage 

director Suren Shahverdyan, that depicts through his staging how 

“envy and jealousy can ruin a man, how sadness can get out of 

control when love turns into hate, culminating in a tragic ending.” 

The Shakesperian drama brings us Othello, a legend in his own 

time, a nobil, brave and victorious man. This hero returns from 

battle, only to face his biggest challenge yet: Iago has a 

machiavellian plan to ruin Othello's life and feeds his hatred with 

contempt and malice. “For me it was important to understand 

why people can turn into a Iago, destroying everything around 

them. Iago wasn't born this way, but the lie has made him lose his 

trust in people”, says the director of the show, that decided to not 

divide his heroes in ”good or bad, black or white, each character 

being able to inspire compassion.” Deep, intense, heartbreaking, 

“Othello” explores mercilessly every part of the human condition, 

and Shahverdyan says that “the modern Othello helps us to look 

within us, restore our feelings and look into the eyes of our own 

shortcomings. We should all think about our sins and try not to die 

for love, but live for it. Let us not lose trust in those around us!”

Este un experiment inedit, practicat în Rusia de mai bine de 20 de ani: Laboratorul teatral coordonat de Oleg Loevski, 

producător, curator, teatrolog rus. Sunt invitați tinerii regizori: Oleg Eremin, Kirill Vîtoptov și Dumitru Acriș. În cadrul 

proiectului, actorii vor împărțiți în trei echipe vor lucra intens, timp de cinci zile, experimentând punerea în scenă a 

trei spectacole, contra cronometru, pe un text clasic, adaptarea a unui roman celebru, pe o piesă contemporană și o 

poveste inventată, culeasă din viață, ce se va materializa într-un spectacol de stradă. Intenția acestui laborator este 

de a-i scoate pe actori din zona de confort, oferindu-le provocarea unor repetiții la de maximă intensitate, sub 

presiunea timpului și cu mijloace de producție improvizate. Cele trei spectacole vor prezentate publicului în 

ultimele două zile ale proiectului și apoi în festival, iar apoi pot nalizate ca spectacole ce pot intra în repertoriul 

teatrului. 

Oleg Loevski este unul dintre cei mai in uenţi producători de teatru din Rusia și iniţiatorul acestui tip de laborator 

teatral (în ultimii 20 de ani a organizat sute de ediții în toate teatrele din Rusia, dar și în străinătate - Germania (mai 

2019), Iran (aprilie 2019) etc.) care promovează dramaturgia contemporană sau clasică, folosindu-se de 

creativitatea tinerilor, găsește direcţii noi și necesare pentru lumea teatrală actuală. Oleg Loevski și-a început 

cariera s dând comunismul și câștigându-și reputaţia ca dramaturg, scenarist și critic de teatru. Este președintele 

Asociației Internaționale a Teatrelor pentru Copii și Tineret din Federația Rusă și curatorul mai multor festivaluri de 

teatru, printre care Festivalul Orașelor Mici, produs de Teatrul Națiunilor din Moscova, condus de celebrul actor 

Evgheni Mironov.

DUMITRU ACRIȘ 

It's a novel experiment, practiced in Russia for more than 20 years: The Theater Laboratory coordinated by Oleg 

Loevski, producer, curator, Russian theatrologist. There are invited the young directors: Oleg Eremin, Kirill 

Vytoptov and Dumitru Acriș. During the project, the actors will be divided into three teams and will work 

intensively for ve days, experimenting with the staging of three shows, against a timer, on a classic text, the 

adaptation of a famous novel, a contemporary piece and an invented story, based on true life experiences, 

which will materialize in a street show. The intention of this lab is to get actors out of their comfort zone, 

offering them the challenge of rehearsing at the maximum intensity, under pressure of time and with 

improvised means of production. The three shows will be presented to the audience in the last two days of the 

project and then during the festival, and after it they can be completed as performances and added to the 

theater's repertoire. 

Oleg Loevski is one of Russia's most in uential theater producers and the initiator of this type of theater 

laboratory (over the last 20 years he has organized hundreds of editions in all theaters in Russia and abroad - 

Germany (May 2019), Iran (April 2019), which promotes contemporary or classical dramaturgy, and by using 

the creativity of young people, nds new and necessary directions for the current theatrical world. Oleg Loevski 

began his career defying communism and gaining his reputation as playwright, screenwriter, and theater critic. 

He is the president of the International Association of Theaters for Children and Youth in the Russian Federation 

and the curator of several theater festivals, including the Festival of the Small Towns, produced by the Moscow 

National Theater, led by the famous actor Evgeni Mironov.

Acest workshop va oferi o introducere în evoluția Teatrului Indian și practicile teatrale contemporane din India. Limba în care se va

Vidyanidhee Vanarase (Prasad) s-a născut și a crescut în Pune. A absolvit la Școala Națională de Teatru (NSD), New Delhi. S-a 

implicat în activitatea teatrului încă din copilărie. A fost un membru al Shishuranjan, Pune, un grup de teatru ce lucra cu copii. La 

vârsta de 16 ani, a fondat propriul său grup - Abhijaat Rangabhoomi, Pune în 1985. De atunci a regizat mai mult de 50 de spectacole 

în diferite limbi. S-a implicat în Teatrul Stradal și de asemenea a montat aproape 350 de spectacole stradale fondate pe probleme 

relevante sociale. A lucrat în limbile Marathi, Hindi, Konkani, Kannada și Engleză. A tradus și a adaptat piese în Marathi. A devenit 

expert în trei domenii interdependente – Scenogra e și Regie, Administrarea și Managementul Artelor și Arte Aplicate. 

Versatilitatea sa i-a dat posibilitatea de a lucra cu amatori precum și cu profesioniști de sezon. Este Directorul Fondator al singurei 

Instituții indiene membre ITI/UNESCO-UNITWIN Rețeaua de Educație Superioară în Artele spectacolului. Este un membru al 

Consiliului iSTAN, o rețea internațională pentru artele spectacolului și membru în Consiliul Executiv al Institutului Internațional de 

Teatru – UNESCO. Lucrează ca Manager al Festivalului Internațional de Teatru IAPAR, Pune, India din 2016. 

This masterclass would offer glimpses into the evolution of Indian Theatre 

and Contemporary Theatre Practices in India. The language of the masterclass 

would be English. 

Vidyanidhee Vanarase (Prasad) was born and brought up in Pune. He 

completed his post-graduation from the National School of Drama (NSD), 

New Delhi. He has been involved in theatre activity since his childhood. He 

was a member of Shishuranjan, Pune - a theatre group working for children. 

At the age of 16, he founded his own group - Abhijaat Rangabhoomi, Pune in 

1985. Since then he has directed more than 50 plays in various languages. He 

has been involved in Street Theatre as well and has performed around 350 

shows of different street plays created on socially relevant issues. He has 

worked in Marathi, Hindi, Konkani, Kannada and English. He has translated 

and adapted plays in Marathi. He has gained pro ciency in three interrelated 

areas – Design and Direction, Administration and Management of arts and 

Applied Arts. His versatility has enabled him to work with amateurs as well as 

seasoned professionals. He is a Founder Director of International Association 

for Performing Arts and Research (IAPAR). IAPAR in the only Indian Member 

Institution of ITI/UNESCO-UNITWIN Network for Higher Education in 

Performing Arts. He is a Board Member of iSTAN, an international network for 

stage arts. He is a member of Executive Council of International Theatre 

Institute – UNESCO. He works as the Festival Director of the IAPAR 

International Theatre Festival, Pune, India since 2016.

De ani și ani de zile, practicile indiene ale spectacolului s-au ocupat de reanimarea cunoașterii tradiționale în teatru, dans, muzică și 

alte forme de artizanat, urmărind să creeze un hibrid estetic contemporan și un nou limbaj al interpretării. De-a lungul anilor, a luat 

naștere o practică specială a corpului pentru a hrăni forma de expresie zică, vocală, psihologică a interpretului bazată pe practici de 

respirație și ritmicitate muzicală pentru expresii psihologice. Deși toate aceste forme precum Kalaripayattu, Koodiyattam, Yoga sunt 

înrădăcinate în contexte culturale speci ce, ideea este să cauți principiile fundamentale care stau la baza acestor practici ca să le facă 

accesibile unui număr mare de interpreți: cei cu un trecut cultural și context estetic diferit și din diferite tipuri de spectacole 

contemporane sau tradiționale. 

Aditi Venkateshwaran este o artistă (dansatoare și coregrafă) și o actriță cu un interes deosebit în a povesti, scrie și călători. Și-a început 

cariera ca Radio Jockey în anul 2006 la Radio Mirchi din Pune. Antrenată atât în forma de dans tradițional indian clasic numită Kathak și 

muzică modernă contemporană precum și muzică clasică Hindustani, Aditi la momentul de față se antrenează cu Belraj Soni pe tehnica 

lui Kalaripayattu (arte marțiale din Kerala) și yoga la nivel intermediar, la BKS Iyengar Institutul Memorial, Pune.

Indian Performance practises for years have been engaged in the research and reanimation of traditional knowledges in theatre, 

dance, music, movement and craft forms — with a view to creating a contemporary hybrid aesthetic and performance language. Over 

the years it has evolved a largely physical craft for feeding the physical, vocal and psychological expression of the performer based on 

certain physical forms, breath practices for psychological expressions and the rhythm patterns of music. Although all these forms like 

Kalaripayattu, Koodiyattam, Yoga and so on are rooted in a speci c cultural context the idea is to seek out the fundamental principles 

underlying these practices to make them applicable to a wide constituency of performers: those from different cultural and aesthetic 

contexts and from different kinds of contemporary and traditional performance. 

Aditi Venkateshwaran is a dance artist (dancer, choreographer) and an actor with a keen interest in story telling, writing & travel. She 

started her career as a Radio Jockey in the year 2006 with Radio Mirchi in Pune. Trained in both Indian Classical dance form of Kathak & 

modern contemporary as well as Hindustani Classical music, Aditi is currently training under Mr Belraj Soni on the technique of 

Kalaripayattu (Martial Arts, from Kerala) and intermediate level Yoga at the BKS Iyengar Memorial Institute, Pune.

Un atelier despre tehnica respirației, mișcările zice și utilizarea spațiului. Un mod de a 

construi personaje mai axat pe construirea de imagini colective pe scenă, mai degrabă 

decât construirea de emoții în interiorul propriei ințe. 

Atsushi Kakumoto a absolvit Universitatea din Tokyo în 2002. A studiat la Facultatea de 

Drept (și Științe Politice), concentrată în principal pe studiul istoriei gândirii politice 

europene și a Legii romane. In uențe majore provin de la profesorul KOBA Akira (legea 

romană) și de profesorul Fukuda Arihiro (Istoria gândirii politice). Istoria gândirii 

politice și istoria teatrului european, despre care crede că sunt profund interconectate, 

sunt polii săi de interes. Un interes mai speci c se îndreaptă către aspectele receptării 

gândirii clasice din secolul al XVI-lea. Pentru acest scop am fost concentrat pe cercetarea 

literaturii, pe citirea de limbi clasice: latină, arabă, grecă, precum și limbi moderne: 

engleză, franceză, italiană, castiliană, catalană, portugheză, olandeză, germană, 

daneză, cehă, turcă și rusă, și pe traducerea câtorva texte în japoneză. Continuând în 

cercetare, este activ și ca director de teatru al companiei „d'UOMO ex machina”.

A workshop about breathing technics, physical movements and uses of space. A way of building characters more focused on 

building collective images on stage rather than building emotions inside individually. 

Atsushi Kakumoto graduated the University of Tokyo in 2002. He studied at the Faculty of Law (and Political Science), 

concentrated mostly to the study of the history of European political thought and the Roman Law. Major in uences are from 

Professor KOBA Akira (Roman Law) and from late Professor Fukuda Arihiro (History of Political Thought). History of European 

political thought and history of European theatre, which I think are deeply inter-related, are the two poles of my interest. 

More speci c interest are in the aspects of the reception of classical thought in the 16th century. For this aim I have been 

concentrated to research in literature, read classic languages: Greek, Latin and Arabian, as well as modern languages: English,

Regizorul și profesorul de teatru de la 

Edinburgh College Scott Johnston realizează un 

spectacol special pentru Festivalul BABEL 2019, 

doar cu voluntari ai Teatrului Tony Bulandra, cu 

vârste cuprinse între 16 și 19 ani. Spectacolul 

va avea o reprezentație în festival, urmând a 

reluat, în luna septembrie, ca spectacol al 

stagiunii 2019 / 2020, cu reprezentații în 

ecare lună a stagiunii.

Fotograful Sorin Radu s-a născut la Iași în 1937. Considerat la nivel mondial un mare 

fotograf-portretist și artist-fotograf de teatru, Sorin Radu a avut onoarea să imortalizeze 

personalități marcante ale istoriei, de la conducători de țări la oameni de artă, printre care 

îi amintim pe: Altețele Sale Regele Mihai și Regina Ana, Ronald Reagan, Paul Goma, Eugen 

Ionescu, Noel Bernard, Salvador Dali, Vladimir Orloff, Mariana Nicolescu. De asemenea, 

fotogra ile lui au ilustrat monogra i dedicate unor celebri pictori români, iar milioanele 

de instantanee realizate la spectacole de teatru au rămas în arhiva instituțiilor de cultură 

din întreaga țară și nu numai. 

Fotogra ile sale vorbesc despre forța culorii, despre claritate și despre importanța 

clipei… acelei Clipe! S-a stins din viață la 81 de ani… Drum în Lumină! 


Photographer Sorin Radu was born in Iași in 1937. Considered worldwide as a great portrait-photographer and theater photographer artist, 

Sorin Radu had the honor to capture into vivid images outstanding personalities from history, from country leaders to art people, including 

His Highness King Michael and Queen Ana, Ronald Reagan, Paul Goma, Eugen Ionescu, Noel Bernard, Salvador Dali, Vladimir Orloff, Mariana 

Nicolescu. His photographs also featured monographs dedicated to famous Romanian painters, and millions of snapshots from theater 

performances which remained in the archives of the cultural institutions across the country and beyond. 

His photographs talk about the power of color, clarity and the importance of the moment... That ash of wit! 

He died at 81 years ... Journey into the Light!
