OsteoStrong provides a new way to build bone density
A revolutionary wellness
system that works to
build stronger bone density
and ignite the entire
musculoskeletal chain
naturally has arrived in
Chicago.
OsteoStrong of Greater
Chicago, with locations
in Wilmette and Schaumburg,
is part of Osteo-
Strong, a rapidly growing
national franchise that
helps people of all ages
and fitness levels enhance
their bone health, balance,
strength and posture. Created
based on Dr. John
Jaquish’s osteogenic loading
research and other
studies, the OsteoStrong
system triggers the growth
of new bone and muscle
density in sessions that
only take a few minutes.
Since the first location
opening in 2012, Osteo-
value’ of antiques and collectibles
When it’s time to downsize
or declutter, Ayres
Estate Services (AES) is
your resource for realizing
value from antiques
and collectibles as well
as useful everyday items.
We’re your full-service
source for evaluating your
items, connecting to the
right buyers and selling for
more money.
Here’s what we did
when Joan called us. She
explained that her parents
had moved to senior living.
Their gorgeous 4-square
suburban house was filled
with thirty years of accumulation.
AES got busy
contacting their vetted resources:
appraisers, dealers,
collectors, house sale
specialists, and auction
houses to unload her parents’
special things in the
best way to realize some
cash. The sale of their
household included a wide
variety of furniture, some
antiques, books, artwork,
silver, and collections. As
a result, we brought in several
different specialists.
When Charlie and Lorraine
sent their last kid to
college they decided to
say goodbye to their large
Evanston house—the attic,
the basement, the yard and
the garage. The AES team
created a floor plan for
their new condo to figure
out which furniture to take
Strong has grown into more
than 100 locations on four
continents and benefited
more than 30,000 people.
Part of its fast success can
be attributed to the fact that
its system of four machines
(for lower body, upper
body, core and spine) emulates
high impact forces
without the risk of injury. A
session coach monitors the
entire process, and the integrated
computer software
provides instant biofeedback,
as well as tracks long
term progress over months
and years.
About 54 million Americans,
half of all adults age
50 and older, are at risk of
breaking a bone and should
be concerned about bone
health, according to the National
Osteoporosis Foundation,
and more than 10
million Americans already
suffer from osteoporosis.
Many people concerned
about their bone health
have found an effective
treatment in OsteoStrong.
“I’ve been going to
OsteoStrong for three
months, and I can feel my
bones getting stronger,”
Peggy Jones said. “I highly
recommend this place
with them to the city. The
next step was to find the
right house sale specialist,
who organized a very
successful three-day sale.
After the sale, there were
for people who want to
be proactive or who have
a need to strengthen their
bones.”
Studies show that a year
of treatment with Osteo-
Strong improves bone
density between the hip
and spine by 7.34 percent,
and in as little as six
months, has demonstrated
enough useful items left
to donate to their favorite
charity. To end the process,
the garage and basement
were completely cleaned
out by a removal service.
Paul was a special client
— we never met him.
His mother had died a few
months earlier, and he was
in charge of dispersing her
antique furniture and accessories
for his family—
long distance. He emailed
us good photos of fifteen
item, and we filled him in
on the options — auction,
dealer sales, or consignment.
Paul decided on
consignment. Everything
sold quickly, and Paul
emailed us a thank you
an average overall bone
density gain of 14 percent.
In a study of 500 clients,
strength improved by an
average of 73 percent after
the first year, and 290
percent by the end of four
years.
OsteoStrong also has
positive benefits on
strength, stability, and
joint pain.
“After just a few sessions,
I noticed lifting a
heavy shingle suddenly became
easy to accomplish,”
Gus Gates said. “But now,
after little more than four
months, my strength in the
four key areas is up over
40 percent, and my joint
pain is gone. This renewed
stability is absolutely wonderful.”
Gus is currently exhibiting
strength gains of over
168 percent.
note. It turns out he had
contacted the same consignment
store before calling
us, and they had rejected
the items. Seeing the
photos coming from Ayres
Estate Services, knowing
we understand value, the
consigner gave the items a
chance. It makes sense to
go through the right channels.
North Shore
Estate Sales makes
downsizing easy
Estate Sales are not always associated
with downsizing, but contrary to popular
belief many estate sales are held when
homeowners decide to downsize. Hiring
a full service estate liquidator can take the
stress and burden of moving and make it
into a simple process.
Instead of worrying about how you are
going to empty your home and what to do
with all the items that will not fit in your
new home. You simply take the items that
you want and leave the rest for the estate
liquidator to sell or dispose of.
Companies such as North Shore Estate
Sales in Glenview, have the process down
to a science. Once you clear the items that
you want to keep out of your home, their
team of professional organizers begin to
set the house up like a department store
for the weekend, pulling all the leftover
items out of the cabinets and displaying
them throughout the home.
They say don’t throw anything away before
they come out because you would be
surprised at what they can sell. After setting
up the house they run the sale for two
to three days, depending on the contents of
the home.
On average, a sale can bring in 800 to
1200 customers over the course of the
weekend. After the sale the remaining
contents of the home are removed and donated
to charity. Leaving the owners with
a completely empty house ready for a
closing, a check for the proceeds and a tax
deduction slip. All of this is done without
you having to lift a finger.
Take the stress out of your next move
and hire a professional liquidator to take
care of all the details while you relax at
your new home and contact North Shore
and your individual goals
and objectives. Through
our Comprehensive Parkinson’s
Program, we
to work with you
and address the specific
symptoms affecting your
life, both visible and under
the surface. Our goal
safety and support but to
empower you to continue
Working with Alzheimer’s
you or your loved one on a
personal level. Ultimately
our goal is to promote happiness
for you and comfort
for your family.
The abruptness of
stroke can be traumatizing
not only physically but
emotionally as well. The
change in your daily routine
and the time it takes to
recover can be frustrating
for you and your family.
Broad Street works to ease
this process by developing
a comprehensive plan
which includes simplifying
your daily function and
helping you stay engaged
and progressing towards
physical and mental recovery.
With Nurse Oversight,
we assist you in following
your physician’s plan of
care, which may include
medication management,
blood work or the maintenance
of a proper diet. Our
goal is to minimize your
frustration and accelerate
your path towards recovery.
At Broad Street, we understand
that managing
health conditions can be
stressful. We also understand
that you don’t want
to feel like you are in the
hospital when you are at
home. By focusing on
your experience, we look
to bridge the gap between
your healthcare needs, and
the way you want to live
your life.
Sheridan at Green Oaks
reimagines memory care
Everything about The Sheridan
at Green Oaks defies preconceived
notions of senior living.
From the moment you enter the
community you are greeted by
an impressive, sophisticated atmosphere,
engaged and friendly
staff, and the welcome sound of
activity and laughter resonating
just around the corner. It’s not
the typical image conjured by
the mention of a senior living
community, and that’s perfectly
fine with the proud staff and residents
that call this community
home.
“We like that visitors are
pleasantly surprised by our vibrant
atmosphere, and enjoy
showing it is just the beginning
of how we redefine memory
care,” said Barbara Caspersen,
Memory Care Director, referring
to the innovative lifestyles,
diverse social opportunities, and
two specialized memory care
programs available to residents
of the community.
Since opening its doors, The
Sheridan at Green Oaks has offered
embrace Memory Care, a
program created to help residents
living with advanced dementia
find more joy and connection
each day. Using research-based
approaches, caregivers help
residents discover meaning in
the little moments and build
upon each one to create a more
fulfilling lifestyle. The awardwinning
program has received
acclaim for its inspiring gardento-table
programs, book clubs,
and brain health classes, all tailored
to each resident’s likes,
needs, and abilities. However,
it’s often the structured friend
and family support that shines
for visitors and staff alike. “We
provide tools and guidance that
can gift special moments of connection
to families who have
been struggling,” Caspersen
said. “The love is always there,
we just create new ways of expressing
it.”
Caspersen is uniquely qualified
to provide that guidance to
families. She holds a Master’s
in Gerontology and has built
her career helping residents and
their families navigate traumatic
brain injuries and dementia.
This knowledge and expertise
enables residents and their families
find the right answers to
life-altering questions blurred
by the disruptive and uneven
progression of dementia.
Knowing how dementia progresses
and the decisions faced
by families at every stage of the
disease helped create the second
memory care program available
at The Sheridan at Green Oaks.
“We implemented enrich
Memory Care as a steppingstone
from assisted living to
memory care,” Caspersen said,
“creating another option for our
Lake Bluff community.”
The enrich Memory Care program
is for people living with
early-stage dementia who need
gentle reminders and a little extra
attention each day, and thrive
when engaged in stimulating activities
and social situations.
That’s why the enrich programming
schedule reads more
like a local events calendar with
trips to the beach, driving range,
botanical gardens, fall apple
picking and much more.
“We are pleased to provide
fun and engaging outings such
as taking in a play at the Marriot
Playhouse, enjoying an afternoon
movie matinee, or having
a long lunch at The Silo”
Caspersen said. “We love that
their dementia doesn’t define
them, or their days. Life for our
residents is still bright and full
of possibilities at The Sheridan
at Green Oaks.”
Henrietta Gale is no stranger
to the hassles of moving. Having
moved over 20 times in her life,
most recently from Bozeman,
Mont. to Presbyterian Homes’
Lake Forest Place community after
her husband passed away, she
was all too familiar with all the
hassles of packing up your life
and unpacking it all on your own.
So, when she moved into a new
apartment at Lake Forest Place,
she decided to take advantage of
Presbyterian Homes Don’t Lift A
Box moving program.
Don’t Lift A Box means just
what it says, Gale didn’t have to
pack a box or lift a finger. Presbyterian
Homes put her in contact
with a team of professional moving
experts who handled every
aspect of her move, from planning,
packing up and moving out,
to moving in and unpacking.
They even offer specific expertise
to those seniors who may
need some help with downsizing.
Something Gale could appreciate
having had to downsize on her
own from a four-bedroom house
in Bozeman to her large one-bedroom
apartment at Lake Forest
Place.
On the day of the move, Gale
walked into her new one-bedroom
apartment to find all her belongings
perfectly in their place.
“All in all, it was a great experience,”
Gale said. “I didn’t have to
do anything. It was nice to have it
all set up with everything ready to
go. It was really fantastic.”
Better still, the Don’t Lift A
Box program left Gale with even
more time to spend doing the
things she loves, exploring her
new community and getting to
know her fellow residents.
“I love all the activities that are
available at Lake Forest Place,
the card games and the field trips
especially,” Gale said. “I was
looking for a lot when I went
searching for a Continuing Care
Retirement Community and Lake
Forest Place came out at the top
of my list. And now that I’m here,
it’s even better than I expected.”
For those who might be considering
a move to a retirement community
like Lake Forest Place,
Presbyterian Homes also offers
a three-month trial program that
allows you to move into a furnished
apartment and experience
the community life for yourself.
“I love everything about Lake
Forest Place,” Gale said, “the
people, the layout, and particularly
the indoor parking and not having
to clear the snow off my car.
After all those years in Montana,
I don’t miss that one bit.”
All Nature’s Way
offers a new age of
old wisdom
The superior post-hospital rehab
youneed. The luxuryyou deserve.
After your surgeryormedical event, recoverquickly and safely at
Whitehall of Deerfield, the NorthShore’spremier rehabilitation
center.Here, you’ll experience unsurpassed one-on-one physical,
occupational, speech or respiratorytherapy—in resort-like luxury.
My name is Adi Barad. I
am a certified Acupuncturist
and Holistic Medicine
Practitioner.
For over 20 years I have
been in the holistic medical
field, ten years in Tel-
Aviv, Israel as the head
of the Integrative Unit in
Ichilov Hospital and as an
educator in Medicin College,
one of the leading alternative
colleges in Israel
at that time.
Ten years ago, I opened
my own alternative medicine
clinic, All Nature’s
Way Inc. We are located
here in Winnetka and we
are servicing the surrounding
communities.
It’s amazing to see the
transformation of alternative
medicine in the last
two decades.
We believe that food and
nature is our main source
of health and well-being.
The healing property
of many herbs and botanicals,
including Hemp,
have been in use for over
3,000 years, and are now
available for all to use.
But today more than
ever, it’s important to know
who to trust that with the
new hemp and medicinal
weed revolution, anybody
can promote and sell CBD
and hemp products. There
is so much information
out there and it’s almost
impossible to know what
you are getting, with the
lack of regulation, product
impurity and mislabeling,
and poor quality. If we
want to stay active and
healthy as we age, we need
to pay careful attention to
what we put in our bodies.
We need to go to the professionals
to get the most
up-to-date researched information
and the safest
products available.
At All Nature’s Way, we
consider ourselves a leading
authority in alternative
medicine and hemp products.
Many of our clients
that have been using our
products claim that they
feel less stress, improved
brain power, less pain and
inflammation, improved
sleep, and as their ECS
(endocannabinoid system)
is more balanced, they feel
years younger.
Once again, our mission
is to harness nature’s vast
and magnificent powers;
to be healthy, happy, calm
and relaxed — just so that
we can enjoy life as it is.
Chestnut Square at
the Glen becomes a
new home for seniors
There are countless reasons why seniors
decide to make Chestnut Square
their new home. Many are drawn to our
central location in the heart of The Glen
— only steps away from shops, fine dining,
theaters and parks. Others fall in love
with the spacious apartments and all-inclusive
services and amenities. And for a
majority of residents, the cherry on top is
Chestnut’s close proximity to their family.
“I had been living in Florida for 16
years,” Lorrie Anderson said. “But when
I decided to look at retirement communities,
I knew that I wanted to be near my
family in the Chicago area.”
This past August, Lorrie settled into a
new one-bedroom apartment at Chestnut
Square. Being so close to her children and
grandchildren has been a blessing, but
what Anderson didn’t anticipate was that
she’d also be gaining a second family at
Chestnut Square.
“I’ve made so many new lasting friendships
here,” Anderson said. “I love everything
about this place…I’ve never had so
much fun.”
Chris Bezanes, a resident since 2013,
has had a similar experience.
“Chestnut Square is one big family to
me…when my daughters visit, they tease
me because so many people know who I
am,” Bezanes said.
Located at 2601 Chestnut Ave in Glenview,
Ill., Chestnut Square features spacious
one and two-bedroom floor plans,
all-inclusive services and amenities, a
signature dining program, diverse cultural
and recreational events, scheduled transportation,
weekly housekeeping and 24/7
concierge services. Homecare and home
health services are also available on-site
if ever needed.
We are also excited to announce, for a
limited time, attractive incentives on our
100 percent refundable entrance fees. One
and two-bedroom apartments are currently
available, so there’s never been a better
time to lock in your rate and enjoy the vibrant
lifestyle at Chestnut Square! Schedule
your tour today at (847) 998-1118 or

North Shore Compassionate Care is an
independent home care agency located
right here in Highland Park. Their owners,
Mike Glickman and Steve Wilneff are
long time area residents and are also the
primary case managers. John Vuckovich
of Deerfield has now joined the management
team as Managing Director. Their
combined community knowledge and
involvement, business acumen, hands on
approach to every case and the significantly
higher salaries paid to their caregivers
makes NSCC the reliable choice
for in home companion care.
Staying in your home as long as possible
is critical to well-being. Your home
is where you’re most comfortable and
safe. The surroundings are familiar and
reassuring. Moving can be disconcerting,
creating a feeling of uncertainty and upheaval.
You feel displaced and alone at a
time when you most need the good feelings
of your own home.
With NSCC in-home companion care,
you remain as independent as you can
be. Feeling independent is so important
to maintaining a positive outlook and
the best health possible, especially when
the effects of aging and illness are taking
place.
At home, you sleep in your own bed,
your things are around you and you feel
safe. With our help, there’s still no place
like home.
As we age or are recovering from an
illness, injury or surgery we have a need
for care or assistance with daily living
activities. Without a doubt, home is the
most comfortable and convenient place to
receive that care.
North Shore Compassionate Care
provides home care and companion/
homemaker services to seniors and others
throughout Chicagoland. Our broad
choice of service options ranges from
hourly care up through live in services 24
hours a day.
Our experienced, compassionate and
dependable caregivers are carefully selected
to provide clients with loving care
and assistance to make life easier and
assure peace of mind. All caregivers are
interviewed, reference-checked, background-screened,
bonded and insured prior
to placement. Our caregivers are thoroughly
trained and undergo additional
and refresher training on a regular basis.
Often, family members take over the
responsibility of caring for a parent or
loved one. They can soon discover that
this task is extremely difficult and not easily
manageable when combined with the
responsibilities of their own family needs
or while working full-time. Sometimes,
family caregivers simply need a break
or a day to run errands or address other
needs.
At North Shore Compassionate Care,
we are here to help. We create a schedule
of quality in-home care that fits the
needs of your family. In home care is truly
a wonderful option for allowing loved
ones to remain in the comfort and safety
of their own home. Mike, Steve and John
help turn that option into reality. They ensure
a level of care and attentiveness that
few can offer. North Shore Compassionate
Care is proud to be a part of the North
Shore community and attends to community
needs like no other agency.
