#LOVEYOURNEIGHBOR WITH CHRISTMAS DAY DINNER DONATIONS
Would you like to #loveyourneighbor with some supplies for Christmas Day Dinner?
We are accepting donations of hams, cookies, and pies for the event. Donations
can be dropped off through December 22 during business hours (8 am - 3 pm) at
the Downtown Campus office. We can freeze all of these items, so it is quite okay
to make your donation soon. Thank you for all that you do for your neighbor.
CHRISTMAS GIVING FOR LOCAL KIDS
We are excited that for Christmas 2021, we are also collecting for Fishbone Ministries
- our local mission partner that serves kids in the Island area of Butler. Thank
you to everyone who already grabbed a bag to support one of the designated
children from our community! If you still wish to put together a Christmas bag collection
for a local child, please grab a suggested list of donated items from the
collection table and pick a child from an age range of pre-k-kindergarten, 1st-2nd
grade, 3rd-4th grade, or 5th-9th grade, as well as for a boy or girl. Please fill and
decorate a bag to return to the collection tables at either campus by the December
11/12. Financial donations are also welcome! Notate “Fishbone Christmas” on
the memo line by check or at www.butlerfumc.com/donate.
DESSERTS NEEDED FOR COMMUNITY MEAL
Every Friday afternoon at 5 pm, First Church serves our neighborhood with a
community meal. There is a need for desserts to go along with the meals. We can
accept donations of cookies, cakes, and pies. All donations can be dropped off
at the church office during the week and before 3 pm on Fridays. Thank you in
advance for #lovingyourneighbor.
HOW TO LOVE WELL IN AN ANGRY AGE?
Join Braden in a series of talks on December 6 and 13 at 6 pm in the Lower Fellowship
Hall, Downtown Campus. Why does our world seem to default to anger,
frustration, and hate? In the midst of this age, the church and the people of God
remain called to love even the most difficult individuals.
LET THE LITTLE CHILDREN COME TO ME
The First Church children are in need of fun people with a heart for Jesus to serve
once or twice a month. No experience is necessary, curriculum, mentoring and
supplies are provided. Go to www.butlerfumc.com/kids for more info or email
Suzie at sasa@butlerfumc.com.
PRECAUTIONS DURING COVID
Please remember the protocols while we continue through Covid: 1. Social distance
from others. 2. Greet others with a elbow bump or a fist pump. 3. Masks are
encouraged for both vaccinated and unvaccinated. #loveyourneighbor
WHAT TIME IS IT?: WATCH NOT WHEN
Mark 13:32-37
This passage is the conclusion of things Jesus has said about the “end of the age”
in Mark 13. So many people want to know WHEN the moment of Jesus’ return
will be. Prediction after prediction have come and gone and we’re all still here.
Jesus is clear: the only one who knows the WHEN is the one in charge of time. The
focus the Timegiver wants us to have is watching: anticipating, expecting, trusting
that when the time is right, Jesus will return. We are to live in confident hope
and expectant joy that it will happen, and could happen during our next breath.
That reality, Jesus says, should be what governs our living. It should be a constant
reminder to focus our living on the things the Time Giver calls important.
honored to pray for you during your time of need, so please call the church
office at 724.283.6160 if you would like to let us know of an illness, a surgery or
a hospitalization. Thank you in advance.
PASTOR’S DISCRETIONARY FUND
AND POINSETTIA ORDERS
At this time of year, there are a couple of ways that you could gift the church.
The first is to purchase poinsettias to make our spaces beautiful. The second is
to make a donation/gift to the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund. This fund provides
resources that are quickly accessible to assist persons in crisis in our community.
With either option, you may name your gift in memory of or in honor of someone
you love. We will publish these donations on the weekend of December
18/19. The deadline to order poinsettias is December 12. Your purchase/gift
can be dropped at the church office, submitted with your offering, or mailed
to the church office at 200 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001. Make checks payable
to FUMC with a notation on the memo line of your check.
PARENT DATE NIGHT/KIDS CHRISTMAS PARTY
This is a drop-off event that will give parents time to take care of any pending
holiday items. Dinner will be provided. We will play games, enjoy crafts and
watch a short movie. Registration is requested by emailing sasa@butlerfumc.
com.
FUSION UGLY SWEATER CHRISTMAS PARTY!!
All 7th-12th graders are encouraged to attend Fusion’s Ugly Sweater Christmas
Christmas sweater! In addition, students are encouraged to join a time of serving
with the kids’ ministry Christmas party from 5 - 6 pm to help with games and
have fun hanging out with the kids!
