REACTO
ROAD
Things never turn out the way you expect.
This old insight pretty much sums up the
history of our REACTO. This aero racer has
had an impressive career since its market
launch in 2013. Because when we started
our UCI WorldTour commitment as material
supplier and sponsor of TEAM LAMPRE-
MERIDA that year, the REACTO was originally
intended to be a specialist for saving important
split seconds across the finish line (e.g. as
to mountain time trial or stages with probable
solo escapes). But it seems that our experienced
R&D experts had accomplished their task
all too well: in the course of only one season,
the REACTO became the favourite bike of our
LAMPRE-MERIDA pro riders – thanks to its low
weight, ultra-high stiffness and saddle comfort
unique in the sector of aero racers. So for
very good reasons, the pro athletes embraced
the REACTO as their standard working tool in
2014. This in turn was then a very good reason
for MERIDA to extend the REACTO portfolio for
the upcoming Model Year 2015 by an additional
carbon level and a completely new aluminium
version.
The new 2015 REACTO “LITE” aluminium
frames are much more than just a simple
adaption of the successful carbon variant.
Anyhow, such outstanding frame designs
optimized in the wind tunnel (e. g. the one of our
REACTO) can’t be manufactured from aluminium
without any further ado. But thanks to now
decades of experience in producing aluminium
frames, MERIDA’s German R&D experts finally
succeeded in transferring the exciting features
of the carbon version to an exceptionally wellpriced
aluminium model. They did so in close
cooperation with the production plant in Yuanlin,
Taiwan.
Its ultra-smooth welding seams provide the
REACTO LITE with the look of a one-piece
construction. Thus, the new aluminium
variants are at first sight almost indistinguishable
from the successful carbon models. But this
resemblance reaches far beyond sheer visual
aspects: The newcomer benefits directly from
the aerodynamic advantages of the carbon
REACTO. From its “carbon brother”, the new
aluminium model has inherited quite a number
of sophisticated technological details – such
as the drop-shaped “Fastback” tube profiles
with cropped rear ends, the neat inlets/outlets
for the internal routing of all cables/wires, the
completely integrated saddle clamping, and
the aerodynamically efficient rear-brake position
directly behind the bottom bracket. Spea-
