Descriptive method was used for this research. The sample of the research consists of 92 teaching staff who were selected with simple random sampling method in vocational high schools in Kocaeli University. To be used in the study, an interview form was prepared by the researchers. While the questionnaire was preparing, it benefited from the corresponding literature and interview form which was prepared by Özsevgeç and et al. (2004). The questionnaire consists of open-ended questions which are appropriate with semi-structured interview technique and 10 items which is expressed in the form of fivefold likert. Also, the questions have been given which aim to determine the demographic characteristics of the teaching staff. The data was collected by semi-structured interview technique which is one of the qualitative research methods. Qualitative data obtained from interviews is grouped by researchers and is digitized and is expressed as frequency and percentage. In addition, the demographic characteristics of the teaching staff are given in the tables as percentage and frequency. Also, averages were calculated for items which are expressed in the form of likert. SPSS computer programme was used to analyze the data. As a result, it was found that teaching staff tend to use traditional approaches of assessment and evaluation more than alternative approaches and they doesn’t use enough to alternative assesment approaches and measurement methods and techniques which are based on this approach. As a general, it was seen that knowledge of teaching staff was missing for the concept of measurement and evaluation.
