As far as the village sector is concerned, the thatchedbuildings prove the diversification of the exposition accordingto chronology, property and professions. The homesteadspresented consist of one and more buildings; then, there arealso some examples of rural industry structures, like a mill, forge or oil mill. The rustic houses arranged in the museum are dominatedby the silhouette of a 17 th century church from Ryczowwhich has kept its original interior. Services and weddingceremonies are celebrated there all year round, and on EasterSaturday priests bless the Easter food.Nowadays, one of the most monumental and typicalbuildings in the Museum area is the manor of Droginia(1730). A majestic, wooden framework nobleman’s residence, pargeted from outside with clay and whitewashed. The building has a two-bay structure with an enfilade layoutof rooms and a central vestibule, and has been adapted tosuit the museum activities and the museum administration. The exhibition section houses a permanent display of manorinteriors – ‘Dwelling of a wealthy gentry’s family througha century – from the mid-19 th century to 1945’. The exhibitionarea consists of five rooms: a drawing room, the lady’sroom, a room for a poor aunt (living as a guest), a sleepingroom and the master’s study. The Museum – the Nadwiślański Ethnographic Park inWygiełzow and the Lipowiec Castle, apart from research andconservation activities, deals as well with the popularizationof folk culture through diversified animation events e.g.in-museum lessons and folklore performances. Regularly heldevents are accompanied by meetings with folk craftsmen, authors, folk ensemble concerts and handicraft fairs. The mostprestigious form of the Museum activity is the Internationalfestival of Chamber and Organ Music ‘Silesia’, organized incooperation with the Institution of Promotion and Popularizationof Music ‘Silesia’, with participation of prominentartists from Poland and abroad.Apart from permanent exhibitions, in the museum a visitormay as well admire temporary exhibitions, arranged form privatecollections or those which are on loan from other museums.Agnieszka Oczkowska4361
